FUNERAL SERVICES

Russell Lamar Bratcher

Russell Lamar Bratcher, 72, husband of Alberta Skipper Bratcher of Georgetown, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 in the Chapel of Graham Funeral Home in Georgetown with Rev. Wayne Ellis and Rev. Wyllene Skipper officiating.

Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial  Gardens.

Visitation will be Friday, March 12, 2010 at 1 pm until 3 pm prior to the service.

He was born May 21, 1937 in Horry County a son of the late William Henry and Blanche Cox Bratcher.

He was also predeceased by two brothers; John Henry and Bobby Bratcher and one sister Mary Ann Bratcher.

Mr. Bratcher was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was a generous man who enjoyed helping others.

Mr. Bratcher worked very hard as a heavy equipment operator in the construction business for many years.

After his retirement he enjoyed working in his Chair Caning business.

He was a member of Screven Baptist Church and the Keystone Sunday School Class. 

Surviving are his wife, Alberta Skipper Bratcher of the home; three sons, Rusty Bratcher (Karen), Tony Bratcher (Vicki) and Wally Bratcher (Robin) all of Georgetown; three sisters, June Bland of  N. Charleston, Frances Bratcher of Conway and Emily Davenport-Hill (Larry) of Alaska; one brother Billy Bratcher (Kaye) of Conway; seven Grandchildren, Russ Bratcher, Olivia Atkinson (Mikey), Seth Roberts (Caitlin), Matt Roberts, Katlyn Bratcher, Corine Bratcher and Taylor Bratcher and one Great Grandchild Sutton Roberts and many other family and friends who will miss him.

Memorials may be made to Tidelands Community Hospice House, 2591 N Fraser St. Georgetown, S.C. 29440.

Linwood Garland

 

Linwood “Buck” Garland, 94, of  Georgetown, SC, died on Sunday, March 7, 2010 in Georgetown, SC.

Funeral services for Mr. Garland will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Georgetown.

Burial will follow in Morning Glory Cemetery.

Mr. Garland was born December 15, 1915 Sumpter County, SC to Ervin Garland and Mrs. Hannah Gamble Garland.

He attended Hickory Hill Church School in Turbeville, SC and was a member of First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

He was  and retired from International Paper Co. 

He is survived by his children, Linwood Garland Jr. of New Haven, CT, Sara Hilton of  Jacksonville, FL, Mary Collington of Riverdale, GA, Dorothy McCoy of McDonough, GA, Gladys Miller of Bronx, NY, Betty Garland of Georgetown, SC, Tony A. Garland of Georgetown, SC; twenty-nine grandchildren, eighty great grandchildren; fourteen great great grandchildren.

Family visitation will be held  6 p.m. on Friday evening, March 12, 2010 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.

Funeral service arrangements are entrusted and directed by Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.

Cecil Parker

Cecil U. Parker, 78, of St. Stephen died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.

Mr. Parker was born in the Witherbee Community of Berkeley County on December 30, 1931, a son of the late James M. Parker and Walton Brandon Parker.

He served in the Navy on the SS Smiley during the Korean Conflict.

After returning home, he worked until retirement with International Paper Company in Georgetown.

Surviving are a daughter, Cecilia Capps (Avon) of McClellanville; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Parker was predeceased by his sons, Mickey and Jonathan.  He was greatly loved and will be missed by his family.

Memorial services will be on Saturday morning, March 13, 2010, at ten o’clock at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.  Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Walker Cook.

Barbara Tucker

Barbara Warr Tucker,  70, of Georgetown, widow of Charles Tucker, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010  at her residence.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

Officiating will be Rev. Rod Reed                     .

She was born August 7, 1939 in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Berlon Bernet Warr and the late Violet Gladson Warr.

Mrs. Tucker was a member of Victory Christian Fellowship  Church and a loving mother and sister.  She was noted most for her saying,”Wherever the Lord opened the door.”

Surviving are one daughter, Teena Tucker (Michael) Jones of Pinnacle, NC,; one sister, June (Wendell) Gause of Georgetown; one brother, Richard (Shirley) Warr of Birmingham, Alabama; one step granddaughter, Melody Jones; and numerous others who will miss her.

Marjorie Rogers

Marjorie Bullard Rogers, 83, died Friday, March 5,  2010 at Hospice of Charleston.

A memorial service will be held at Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church, 84 Forest  Ave, Georgetown, on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 2 p.m.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Crossley, Jennifer Campbell and Elizabeth Kenyon; her son, Clifton Williams; her grandchildren, Thomas Williams, Tina Williams, Lea Kelly, Trudence Camerer and Zachariah Campbell; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Marjorie enjoyed bluegrass music, crossword puzzles, playing bridge, sewing, knitting, painting and hunting for jewelry bargains.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, 2090 Executive  Hall Road Ste 130, Charleston, SC  29407.
