FUNERAL SERVICES

James Coles

Funeral services for the late James E. “Pee Wee” Coles  were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Pleasant Hill FWB Church Hemingway, SC.

Moderator Mack Singletary, pastor conducted the religious services.

Internment followed in the Church Cemetery.

Mr. Coles entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Harmony Hospice House in Columbia after an illness.

He was born in Georgetown County, a son of the late Oscar and Alberta Brown Coles.

He was educated in the public schools of Georgetown County.

Mr. Coles was a member of Walker Capel FWB Church.

He was joined in holy wedlock to Willa Dean Sessions and they were blessed with four children.

Loving memories will be cherished by his wife of Hemingway; three sons, James (Dean) Coles of Hemingway, Lee (Louise) Coles of Columbia and Timothy (Doris) Coles of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Karen Coles of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Leila Coles of Norfolk, Va. and Edna Coles of Hemingway; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Jaennette Cooper-Eaddy

Funeral services for the late Jaennette Cooper-Eaddy were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at St. James Baptist Church in Johnsonville, SC.

Rev. O.F. Bennett, pastor conducted the religious services.

Internment followed in the Eaddy Ford Cemetery.

Mrs. Eaddy entered into eternal rest on Friday, July9, 2010 at her residence in Goldsboro, NC after an illness.

She was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late Reo and Pearl Cooper.

She was educated in the public schools of Florence County.

Mrs. Eaddy was a member of St. James Baptist Church.

She was employed as a receptionist at Yale New Haven Hospital, as a cashier at Yale University, and retired from the U.S. Government as a housekeeping supervisor.

He was joined in holy wedlock to James Eaddy.

Loving memories will be cherished by her husband of Goldsboro, NC; sons, Danieal (Yvonne) Wilson of Charlotte, NC, Jason A. (Bridgett) Eaddy of Hickmond Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Jermaine Reo Eaddy of Goldsboro, NC; two sisters, Betty (Joseph) Smith of Richmond, Va., and Thornnette Cooper of Camden; one brother, Flix (Lenell) Cooper of Hemingway; three grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Carol Nooft

The funeral service for Mrs. Carol Kay Nooft, 61, of Columbia, will be held Noon, Monday, July 19, 2010, at Windsor United Methodist Church, with The Rev. Tony Rowell officiating.  

Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will received friends from 4 until 6 o’clock on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.

Mrs. Nooft died Friday, July 16, 2010.  Born November 12, 1948 in Kingstree, SC to the late Calob S. “Kay” Duelley and Doris Lake Duelley, Carol Kay was raised in Georgetown, SC and was a 1966 graduate of Winyah High School.

She attended Wayne United Methodist Church where she started and directed the children’s choir and was active in the chancel choir.  

After college, Mrs. Nooft moved to Florence where she taught sixth grade.

Carol Kay was a Jayceette and served as President 1980-1981.  She helped found the Florence Big Sister/ Little Sister Program and served as Director.  

In 1985, she moved to Columbia.

It was there that she taught adult education and high school until retirement.

Carol Kay completed a seven year Bible Study Fellowship at Shandon Baptist Church.

Mrs. Nooft was an active member of Windsor United Methodist Church.

She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed by the many whose lives she has touched.

Survivors include her mother, Doris Lake Duelley of Georgetown; husband of 38 years, Francis Alvord “Al” Nooft of Columbia; daughter, Ginger Painter and husband, Rusty, of Lexington; son, Jonathan R. Nooft and grandchildren, Lillie and Laurin Painter.

She was preceded in death by her father, Calob S. Duelley.
