William Truman Scott, 66, Hemingway

FUNERAL SERVICES

Marcus All

Marcus Wayne “Butch” All, 70, the beloved husband of Elizabeth Mixon Howard All of Andrews, departed this life on Friday evening, January 6, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. All was born the son of James S. Hester and Faye Hill Hester on March 1, 1941 in Charleston.  

He attended Clemson University and Palmer College where he received an Associate Degree in Business Administration.  

He was an employee of Westvaco and was an avid outdoorsman excelling in fishing and hunting.

Mr. All leaves behind his wife; his mother; two sisters, Charlotte H. Wasmund and Sally H. (Doyle) Hamilton; his extended family, Jeanne H. (Charlie) Knight, Lew (Carla) Howard; six “loved as his own” grandchildren, Aaron, Michael, Jessica, Chris, Zack, and Nick; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon, January 9, 2012, at the Piney Forest Baptist Church.

Burial, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home, will follow in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday evening, January 8, 2012, in the Piney Forest Baptist Church Family Life Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Tidelands Hospice House, 2591 North Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC 29440, or to Piney Forest Baptist Church, 656 Piney Forest Road, Andrews, SC 29510.

Trisha Harrington

Mrs. Trisha Kathleen Gray Harrington, 83, wife of E.H. “Hay” Harrington, Jr. of Kingstree, died Saturday, January 7, 2012, at her residence after an illness.

Mrs. Harrington was born April 30, 1928, in Lake City, a daughter of the late Benjamin Julius Gray and Mary Poole Gray Burrows.

She was a graduate of Indiantown High School and first worked at Poston Drug Store, where she met Hay.

For many years she was the secretary of their business, Harrington Construction Co.

She was an active member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Gingersnappers, the Tuesday Morning Circle and the Caring Cooks.

Mrs. Harrington was a wonderful cook, an avid golfer and bridge player, and loved baking “Love” cookies with her grandbabies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Nell Carter, Jo Donoho, Mary Covington, and Anna Laura Gray and her brothers, Clarence “Bubba” Gray and Raymond Gray.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of Kingstree, are her daughter, Faye Harrington (Ronnie) Altman, of Pawleys Island; her son, Kim (Teressa) Harrington, of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Chris Harrington, Hayley Altman Glick, Brian Altman and Zac Harrington; great grandchildren, Harry Woodbury, Mary Gray Glick, Emma Glick, Alex Harrington, Jacob Harrington, Morgan Harrington and Lizzie Altman; and a special niece, Debbie Carter (Rick) Godwin of Kingstree.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2012, in Kingstree Memorial Gardens, directed by Williamsburg Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, 411 N. Academy Street, Kingstree, SC 29556.

Solon Lambert

Solon Walter Lambert, 91, of Andrews, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Lambert was born in Mt. Olive, N.C. on November 22, 1920, a son of the late William Benjamin Lambert, Jr. and Doolie Lambert. 

He grew up in Jamestown and loved hunting and fishing. 

Mr. Lambert was in the 87th Mountain Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army during World War II. 

He ran Lambert Grocery for a number of years, worked at the Navy Shipyard in Charleston, and retired as a welder from Detyens Shipyard in 1985. 

Mr. Lambert was a member of Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Etta Bratcher Lambert of Andrews; five sons, Roger Lambert (Karen) of Summerville, Solon “Pee Wee” Lambert (Amelia) of Georgetown, and Robert Lambert, Walter Lambert, and Deon Lambert (Robin), all of Andrews; four daughters, Lynn L. Thomas (Kenneth) and Patricia L. Elliott (Harris), both of Andrews, Annette L. Brandon (Chris) of Georgetown, and Lisa L. Wrenn (Will) of Bonneau; a brother, Arthur Lambert of Georgetown; two half-brothers, Gene Britt and Glen Britt; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and an honorary daughter, Kay Brandon of Georgetown.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lambert was predeceased by a son; his step-mother, Camie Grady Lambert; four brothers, Hogel Lambert, Andrew Lambert, Leroy “Jack” Lambert, and Ellerbe Lambert; two sisters, Leona L. Brinson and Eula Lee L. Ackerman; and his honorary mother, Carrie Taylor.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday morning, January 9, 2012, at Saints Delights Pentecostal Holiness Church. 

Officiating will be the Rev. Chris Browder. 

Burial will follow in Lambert Cemetery.

The family received friends on Sunday evening, January 8, 2012, at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church from 5 to 7 p.m.

Wendell Lambert

Wendell Delon Lambert, 53, entered into eternal rest on January 6, 2012, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.

Born on April 4, 1958, in Georgetown, he was a son of Mary Estell Lambert, who will dearly miss her precious boy, and the late Cicero Lambert.

Mr. Lambert was a member of Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church and served in the South Carolina National Guard.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was always willing to lend a helping hand to people in need.

Survivors include his loving mother, Mary Estell Lambert of Georgetown; step father, Hilburn Collins of Georgetown; three children, Dewayne Lambert and his wife Casey of Whitesville, April Edwards and her husband Travis of Myrtle Beach and Evert Lambert of Georgetown; two sisters, Margie Wilson and Vina Mae Hammond, both of Georgetown; two brothers, Cleaveland Lambert and Kevin Lambert, both of Georgetown; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Lambert and Gerald Lambert.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Christ Browder and Rev. Steve Wilson officiating.

Burial will follow in Sand Ridge Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Jessie McGill

Mrs. Jessie D. McGill, 92, of 103 Privet Street, Andrews, S.C., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at Tidelands Hospice, Georgetown, S.C.

Services will be held at Noon on Monday at W.J. McKnight & Son Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Thomas Samuels, officiating. 

Burial follows in St. John AME Church Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.

Mrs. McGill, a daughter of the late Belenger and Martha White-Dorsey, was born June 14, 1919, in Williamsburg County.

She was a life long member of St. John AME Church and a member of the Home Charity Lodge #15, Andrews.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Horace McGill, Bobby McGill, Bernard McGill of Philadelphia, Pa., Mary Simson, Bronx, N.Y., Geneva Coleman, Andrews, S.C., Henry McGill, Ridgeville, S.C.; a grandson reared as her son, Silas McGill of Ridgeland, S.C.; her sisters, Rhoda D. Young, Buffalo, N.Y., Beatrice Chandler of Virginia, Sarah Mack Vereen, Georgetown, S.C., Bethel McGill, Richmond, Va., Martha Gillard and Hogan McGill of Baltimore, Md., Albertine Wilson, Bronx, N.Y., Shirley McCrea, Evanston, Ill. and William McGill, Nesmith, S.C.; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mildred Phillips-Gause

Mildred Louise Phillips-Gause, 68, of Andrews, beloved mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, January 6, 2012 at Tidelands Hospice House.

Ms. Phillips-Gause was born a daughter of Charlie Boyd Phillips and Mattie Lee Taylor Phillips on March 27, 1943, in Marlboro County.  

She was a 20-year employee of Jamestown Wool Mill and a retired employee of Oneita Knitting Mills.  

She was a faithful member of the Oak Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served in the Women’s ministry.  

Ms. Phillips-Gause committed her life to acts of selfless giving, fervent prayer, and unconditional love to earn her the distinguished title – Beloved Mother.  

She leaves behind two children, Sherry (Roger) Gainey and Darrell (Frankie) Phillips; six grandchildren, Amanda G. Kennedy, Casey Gainey, Justin (Katie) Gainey, Charles Phillips, Jason Phillips, and Tiffany Phillips; and four great-grandchildren, Jade Kennedy, Kayla Gainey, Karaline Gainey, and Kallie Gainey.  

She also leaves behind four brothers, Charlie Floyd “Buddy” (Kim) Phillips, Danny (Phyllis) Phillips, Charles Deleon (Joy) Phillips, and Billy Ray (Elizabeth “Monkie”) Phillips;

She was predeceased by her parents; two sons, William Earl Wilson and James Edwards Hennings, Jr.;  a brother, Gene Phillips; and three sisters, Jannie Mae Phillips-Wilson, Betty P. Jones, and Mary L. Phillips.

A Home Going Celebration will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2012, at the Oak Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church.  

Interment will be at 3 p.m. in the Prosser Cemetery, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.  

Visitation was from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday evening, January 7, 2012, at the Andrews Chapel.

James Powell, Sr.

James Preston Powell, Sr., 68, the beloved husband of Lillian Davis Powell of Andrews, departed this life on Thursday morning, January 5, 2012, at Williamsburg Regional Hospital.

Mr. Powell was born the son of Preston Edward Powell and Elma Lambert Powell on May 14, 1943, in Williamsburg County.  

He was a 1961 graduate of Williamsburg High School and was a retired Superintendent at Oneita Knitting Mills.  

He leaves behind his wife; two children, Jamey (Lori) Powell and Jodi (Mikie) Morris; five grandchildren, Whitney Powell, Justin Powell, Brett Powell, Mason Morris and Maci Morris,; and two great-grandchildren, Paxstyn Cooper and Preslee Anne Cooper.  

Mr. Powell also leaves behind a sister, Sally P. Knight; two brothers, Randy (Doris) Powell and Charles (Joyce) Powell.

He was predeceased by his parents; a son, William Edward Powell; and a grandchild, Jordan Morris.

A Celebration of Life service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, January 8, 2012, at the Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Interment followed in the church cemetery.

The Powell family received family and friends at a reception honoring Mr. Powell immediately following the service in the Family Life Center.

Shirley Thacker

Shirley Akin Thacker, 70, widow of Wilbert H. Thacker, Sr., passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.

Born on September 16, 1941, in Bridgeport, AL, she was a daughter of the  late James F. Akin and the late Bertha Ferguson Akin.

Mrs. Thacker enjoyed collecting recipe books and cooking.

Survivors include two sons, Wilbert H. Thacker, Jr. (Lisa) of Laurens and Michael K. Thacker (Sara) of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Marc Thacker (Katherine) of Granville, Ohio, Paige Conwell (Brandon) of Anderson, and Bret Thacker, Hannah Thacker and Ryan Thacker, all of Georgetown; three great-grandchildren, Madison Thacker of Granville, Ohio, and Hayden Conwell and Caleb Conwell, both of Anderson; one brother, James F. Akin (Judy) of Bridgeport, Ala.; and one sister-in-law, Joyce Hutchins of Jasper, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Faye Akin; and two brothers, Kenneth Akin and Jerry Akin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2012, in the Graham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Browder officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family received friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Graham Funeral Home.
