Norman Anderson

 

Norman Michael Anderson, 62, of Pawleys Island, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Tidelands Hospice House.

Born in Washington, DC he was a son of Norma V. Anderson and the late Robert C. Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was a 1965 graduate of Oxon Hill High School and a 1969 graduate of East Tennessee State University.

He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Mr. Anderson was founder of Michael Anderson Associates, Inc. and on the Board of Directors for Premier Bank in Atlanta, GA.

Surviving in addition to his mother of Pawleys Island is a daughter, Alexandra Anderson of Social Circle, GA; a brother, Robert C. Anderson Jr. and wife Karol L. of Pawleys Island; a niece, Ashleigh A. Anderson; and a nephew, Robert C. Anderson, III.

Services will be held at a later date.

Stephen Goude

Stephen Pharoe Goude, 84, of Georgetown, the widower of Dorothy L. Prosser went home to be with his beloved wife and his Lord and Savior on January 3, 2010, after a long and vigilant battle with health problems.

Mr. Goude was born the son of Norman Leslie Goude and Sissy Viola Cribb Goude on January 24, 1925 in Hemingway, SC.

He was a retired 43 yrs. employee of the Pulp Mill Division, Georgetown Mill of International Paper Company where he served as President of the Local Union and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.

Mr. Goude was an Army veteran of World War II and completed his military service in the SC National Guard.

He was a devoted and faithful member of the Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served in the Men’s Fellowship, on the Visitation Committee, and the Senior Adult Bible Class.

Mr. Goude was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and gardening.

Stephen and Dorothy were married October 26, 1947, and celebrated 58 years together.

From this blessed union survives six children, Danny Steverson (Jane) Goude, Richard Allen (Cathy) Goude, Glenna (Earl) G. Thompson, Loretta G. (Jimmy) Thompson, Katheryn G. (Rudy) Griffith, and Elisha “Lisa” G. (Allan) Chastie; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Also surviving is one sister, Beulah Polston.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, a brother, LB Goude, and a sister, Lila Goude Polston.

Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors was 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at the Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church with interment in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in the sanctuary of the Georgetown PH Church.

Michael Green

Michael Antonio Green,  39,  of Georgetown died on January 1, 2010 in New York.

He graduated from Georgetown High School and was employed with Surf Printing in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Funeral services for Mr. Green will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2010, at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with burial following at the church cemetery

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Green of Georgetown; five daughters, Lakeema Maybank of Georgetown, Aneeshia Scott Green of Benedict College, Columbia, SC, Latisha Green and Quianna Green, both of Georgetown, Dezirae Trappier of Myrtle Beach and Sade Scott of New York; his father, James Gilliard; and 14 siblings, Angela Britton, Eric Green, Gussie Thomas, Trena Green, Alexander Nelson, Sherrie Nelson, Shawna Nelson, Allen Gilliard, Dedrick Gilliard, Jaunita Ladson, Patricia Middleton, Tyrone Ladson, Nancy Ladson, and Donna Nelson.

Viewing took place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.

Grace Harrison

 

Grace Albertha Jackson Harrison died on January 2, 2010 at Bamberg County Hospital, Bamberg, SC.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, Georgetown, SC

Visitation will take place on Friday evening at 6 p.m. at the Courtyard Chapel of Wilds Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harrison was born on November 30, 1917 in Georgetown, SC, the seventh child of the marital union between Agnes Rhue Jackson and Henry McDuffie Jackson.

Her early education was received in the public schools of Georgetown, SC and she graduated from Howard High School. 

She earned the Bachelor of Arts degree from Morris College, Sumter, SC and did further study at Columbia University, New York, NY and Hampton Institute, Hampton Institute, VA.

Mrs. Harrison retired from the teaching profession in 1982 after having served as a first grade teacher at Old Howard School and later, for many years, as a sixth grade and social studies teacher at Plantersville Elementary School, Georgetown, SC.

A lifelong member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church (which was founded by her great grandfather, Rev. Edward Rhue), she served as assistant organist, Junior Choir director, a member of the Mary Aaron Auxiliary, Beautification Club, Senior Missionary Society, Senior and Combined Choir, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher.

On April 10, 1943 she married Major Willie Fred Harrison.

Her husband and three of their children preceded Mrs. Harrison in death.

Memories of a life well lived is the legacy she leaves for all who knew and loved her.

Among these are her children, Atty. W. Fred Harrison, Philadelphia, PA and Willette Freda H. Williams, Denmark, SC; five grandchildren, Willie Fred Harrison III,  Brown’s Summit, NC, Archie O. Williams and Dr. Reginald Williams of Orangeburg, SC, Natalie R. Harrison of Greensboro, NC, Allegra Baker, Winston, Salem, NC; a daughter-in-law, Antoinette Harrison; and a son-in-law, Archie Williams; a nephew and three nieces, Raymond Jackson and Yohannes J. Hamilton,  Bronx, NY, Marie E. Smith, Portsmouth, VA, and Hermena J. Dentley (who was Mrs. Harrison’s loving caregiver), Georgetown, SC.

 

Laura Keith

Laura Swinton Keith, 49, of Georgetown, SC, died on January 4, 2010 at University Hospital in Augusta Georgia.

She graduated from Choppee High School in 1978, and was employed with Jamaican Motor in as Housekeeping Supervisor.

Funeral services for Mrs. Keith will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Plantersville.

Viewing will take place Saturday, at 11 a.m. until time of the service.

She is survived by her husband, Dwayne Keith of Georgetown; three sons, KeyShawn Keith and Kelly Swinton both of Georgetown and Eric Swinton of Clemson; five brothers, Frank Swinton Jr. and Rev. James Swinton, both of Georgetown, Harold and Lee Michael Swinton, both of Jersey City, NJ, and John Swinton of Myrtle Beach; two sisters, Vernell Lucas of Jersey City, NJ and Mary Faulk of Conway; and mother-in-law, Annie Mae Keith of Georgetown.

Funeral service plans for Mrs. Laura Keith are entrusted to Wilds.

Charles Sanders

Charles Willis Sanders, age 70, 503 Jackson Street, Unicoi, TN, went peacefully to be with our Lord on January 4, 2010.

He served in the United State Air Force.

He was a former Police Chief in Andrews, S.C.

Mr. Sanders had worked as a construction project manager and a truck driver.

Charles was the son of the late A.W. Sanders.

In addition to his father he is preceded in death by his wife, Faith Rewis Conrad Sanders, a son Hugh Touchton Sanders, brother Alton Sanders, and 5 grandchildren.

He is survived by his mother and loving children:

Mother: Margaret Sanders, Andrews, S.C.

Son: Charles A “Chuck” Sanders, wife Nancy, Marion. N.C.

Five Daughters: Diane S. Pridgen, husband Harry, Wilmington, N.C.

Shari L Hopson, husband Gary, Unicoi, TN.

Dorie D White, husband Tim , Knoxville, TN.

Alisa A Nielsen, husband Shaun, Erwin, TN.

Marnita F Buchanan, husband Mark, Erwin, TN.

Charles also had 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He will always be truly remembered and deeply missed by all.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 7, 2010, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home at 11 a.m.

Reverend Todd Kingrea officiated and music was given by Keith Stockton.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 7, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Valley Funeral Home.

Committal service followed in the Mausoleum Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery with Military graveside Honors.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Suite 102, Johnson City, TN. 37601and the American Heart Association, 208 Sunset Drive, Suite 113, Johnson City, TN. 37604.
