Vincent Francis Ward Jr., 82, Surfside Beach
FUNERAL SERVICES
Frances Cooper
Frances Harriett “Frankie” Tindall Cooper, 60, the wife of Sammie Cooper, went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2010.
Mrs. Cooper was born the daughter of James Roland Tindall and Reba Weavil Tindall on May 24, 1949, Georgetown, SC.
She was a 1968 graduate of Winyah High School and retired 20-year employee of Georgetown Multiple Listing Services.
She was a faithful and devoted member of the Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church serving over 28 years as Secretary and Treasurer of the Church Board and on numerous other committees and capacities.
Frankie and Sammie were married on January 7, 1972 and celebrated 38 years together.
She leaves behind three children, Robert Felton “Robbie” (Leslie) Cooper, Russell Sammie Cooper, and Harriett Yevette Cooper; nine grandchildren, Matthew, Ashton, Taylor, Lauren, Cassidy, Lucas, Taylor, Tristan, and Trinity; one sister, Patricia T. (Doug) Moody; and an aunt, Mary Lackey.
A Celebration of the Life and Christian Service will be at 2 p.m, Thursday, January 7, 2010, at the Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church with interment in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening, January 6, 2010, in the sanctuary at Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church.
McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Cooper family.

Stephen Goude
Stephen Pharoe Goude, 84, of Andrews, the widower of Dorothy L. Prosser went home to be with his beloved wife and his Lord and Savior on January 3, 2010, after a long and vigilant battle with health problems.
Mr. Goude was born the son of Norman Leslie Goude and Sissy Viola Cribb Goude on January 24, 1925 in Hemingway, SC.
He was a retired 43 yrs. employee of the Pulp Mill Division, Georgetown Mill of International Paper Company where he served as President of the Local Union and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Mr. Goude was an Army veteran of World War II and completed his military service in the SC National Guard.
He was a devoted and faithful member of the Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served in the Men’s Fellowship, on the Visitation Committee, and the Senior Adult Bible Class.
Mr. Goude was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and gardening.
Stephen and Dorothy were married October 26, 1947, and celebrated 58 years together.
From this blessed union survives six children, Danny Steverson (Jane) Goude, Richard Allen (Cathy) Goude, Glenna (Earl) G. Thompson, Loretta G. (Jimmy) Thompson, Katheryn G. (Rudy) Griffith, and Elisha “Lisa” G. (Allan) Chastie; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister, Beulah Polston.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, a brother, LB Goude, and a sister, Lila Goude Polston.
Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at the Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church with interment in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in the sanctuary of the Georgetown PH Church.

Dr. Edward M. Hard
Edward Merrill Hard, MD, 84, died Monday, January 4, 2009 at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, SC.
Born in Worthington, OH, he was a son of the late Earl M. and Louella Mae Hard.
Dr. Hard was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He attended Ohio Wesleyan University as an undergraduate and graduated from the University of Rochester, School of Medicine. During College he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.
He was Chief Resident of Ohio State University and practiced Internal Medicine in Columbus, OH.
Dr. Hard served as Medical Director for several insurance companies including Midland Mutual and Grange Life Insurance Company.
He was Master of Capitol City Masonic Lodge in Ohio in 1982, and was a member of Pawleys Island Lodge.
Dr. Hard was President of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine in 1988.
He was Co-Founder of International Child Care ministering to children of Haiti.
Dr. Hard was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Waccamaw United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Hard and two sisters, Rosemary Kemp and Margaret Sinkey.
Survivors include his wife June Hard of Pawleys Island; six daughters, Kathleen Moore and husband Patrick of Columbus, OH, Cynthia Tosenberger and husband Michael of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Judith Hug of Lancaster, OH, Patricia Price and husband Richard of Newark, OH, Rev. Martha Cramer and husband Darrell of Marysville, OH, and Dr. Carmel Pradel of Los Angeles, CA; 10 grandchildren, Margaret Moore, Brendan Moore, Amy Tosenberger-Smith and husband Timothy, Lisa Gonidakis and husband Chris, Brian Hug and wife Brandy, Rebecca Hug, Scott Ball and wife Jennifer, Regan Price, Benjamin Cramer and fiancée Julie Makowski, and Julia Cramer; five great-grandchildren, Mikaela, Alaina, Maya, Ryann and Makenna.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010 at St. Paul’s Waccamaw United Methodist Church with Reverend Nels Ledwell officiating.
Family will receive friends following the service.

Lavon Poston
Lavon Stone Dennis Poston,74, wife of Joe L. Poston of Johnsonville, died Saturday Jan. 2, 2010 at her home after an illness.
Mrs. Poston was born in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late Marshall L. and Maggie Curry Stone.
She was a seamstress, and was a member of the Cornerstone Church of God.
She was first married to the late James William Dennis.
Surviving are her husband, Joe L. Poston of the home; children, Ray (Dianne) Dennis of Lake City, Vonda K. Dennis and Carlton (Judith) Dennis both of Hemingway, Kenneth (Mary) Dennis and James Dennis both of Johnsonville; step-daughter, JoAnne (Tory) Harrelson of Hemingway; brother, John L Stone of Pamplico; sisters, Lindy Lou Evans of Pamplico, Marilyn Powers of Johnsonville and Callie Mae Ard of Beaufort; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Hemingway with burial in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday Jan. 4, 2010.

Peter Vanderwerff
Peter Michael Vanderwerff, 70, died Monday, January 4, 2010, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Vanderwerff was born in Wyomissing, Pa. on April 30, 1939, a son of the late John William Vanderwerff and Elizabeth Wengery Vanderwerff.
He grew up in Danville, Va. and was a graduate of George Washington High School and Virginia Military Institute, Class of 1962, with a degree in Civil Engineering.
He served as an officer in the U. S. Army in Germany.
Surviving are his wife, Dixie Thomas Vanderwerff; a son Peter Michael Vanderwerff Jr. of Greensboro, N. C.; three daughters, Phebe Whitney Vanderwerff and Sarah Tennille (Keith) Kaplan, both of Greensboro, N.C., and Alice Tennille (Ron) Givens of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, William Vanderwerff of Stuart, Fla. and Buzz Vanderwerff of Greensboro, N.C.; five sisters, Wendy Underwood of Sarasota, Fla., Denise Routson of McDaniel, Md., Alida Vanderwerff of Rock Hill, and Kathy Moca and Renee Orren, both of Greenville.
He was the loving Grandfather of five granddaughters, Kerri Leigh Vanderwerff, Alice Austin Givens, Sarah Walker Marian Givens, Alice Fortune Kaplan, and Anne Byrd Kaplan.
A private service will be held for the immediate family in Charleston.
