FUNERAL SERVICES

Mable Bessellieu

Mable Alston Bessellieu died of natural causes at her home in Pawleys Island, SC on February 18, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Pawleys Island, SC under the direction of Wilds Funeral Home.

Burial follows at the church cemetery.

Visitation will take place on Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wilds Courtyard Chapel, Georgetown.

 Mrs. Besselieu was born on August 12, 1912 in the Waverly Mills area of Pawley Island.

She was the youngest of six children of the marital union between Samuel Alston and Sally Walker Alston.

Her marriage to Rev. G.W. Bessellieu was blessed with the births and rearing of twelve children.

Her husband, siblings, and two children, Rev. Sydney M. Bessellieu and Catherine B. Thompson all preceded her in death.

She was a long time member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Pastor's Aide Board, Senior Missionary Auxilary, and Ministers' Wives and Widows Auxiliary.

During the 41-year pastorate of her husband, she was a devoted First Lady of the Church and in 2007 was honored as "Mother Of The Year."

Suriving are 10 children, Ruthena Alston, Anna B. Thompson, Geraldine B. Hughes, Verbatine B. Johnson, Sarah L. Bessellieu, Gwendolyn B. Coleman, Margaretta B. Bonds, Truman L. Bessellieu, Carolyn B. Williams and Vera B. Curry; 24 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren; two great-great-grand children; six sons-in-law; and two daughters-in-law.

Lucile Coleman

Lucile “Cile” Wharton Nelson Coleman, 79, of Georgetown, died Sunday, February 21, 2010, in Tidelands Community Hospice House.

Mrs. Coleman was born in Tampa, Fla. on August 9, 1930, a daughter of the late Sydney Nelson and Ida Lucile Wharton Nelson.

She grew up in Lakeland, Fla. and Greenwood and was a graduate of Winthrop College.

Mrs. Coleman lived in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. prior to moving to Georgetown five years ago.

She was a communicant of Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church.

Surviving are three sons, Clifton P. Coleman, III (Sandy) of Port St. Lucie, Fla., John S. Coleman of Englewood, Col., and Charlie Coleman of Georgetown; a sister, Mary Kilgore of Atlanta, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Clifton Coleman of Hattiesburg, Miss. and Ashley Coleman of Ocean Spring, Miss.

Memorial services will be private.

Minnie Goude

Minnie Maude Bass Goude, 91, of Georgetown, widow of Colonel George “CG” Goude, went home to be with the Lord Friday morning, February 19, 2010 at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Goude was born the daughter of James David Bass, Sr. and Minnie Belle Carter Bass on November 18, 1918.

She was a retired Georgetown County School District employee working in the McDonald Elementary School cafeteria and over the years has operated a home-based nursery.

She was a faithful member of the Lakewood Baptist Church during her active years serving as a part of the Violet Long Sunday School class.

In the latter years, she attended Ringel Heights Baptist Church with her daughter-in-law and caretaker, Mrs. June Goude.

CG and Minnie Maude were married many years and from their blessed union survive: a daughter-in-law, June Goude, four grandchildren, Debbie Vause, Pam Duncan, Robin Cumbie, and Chris Goude; and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving is a special nephew, David (Wanda) Bass.  

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her children, Robert J. “Bobby” Goude, and Peggy G. Carter; a grandson, Al Carter; two brothers, James David “Junior” Bass, Jr. and Clifton Bass; and one sister, Betty B. Garrison.

Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2010, at the Ringel Heights Baptist Church.

Interment was in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
