FUNERAL SERVICES
Luther Brown
Luther J. Brown, 79, of Pawleys Island, SC, died on Friday, February 12, 2010 in Murrells Inlet, SC.
Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at St. Mary AME Church, Pawleys Island, SC.
Burial will follow in Florence National Cemetery, Florence, SC.
Mr. Brown was born March 20, 1930 in Pawleys Island, SC to Johnnie Brown and Louise Gibbs Brown.
He attended Holy Cross Faith Memorial School and the Army Medical Corps.
Mr. Brown was a United States Army Serviceman for 27 years before being honorably discharged.
He later worked as a locksmith technician with Yale Industries in New Jersey.
His community affiliations included membership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Theresa Bowie of Pawleys Island, SC; his children, Kenneth Bowie of Jacksonville, FL, Luther L. Brown, Juel Dean Rambus and Debra Ann Stewart all of Burlington, NY; his siblings, Janie Thomas, Charles Reed, Sr. and Donald Gibbs of Georgetown, SC and Beatrice Cox of Pawleys Island, SC.
Funeral service arrangements are entrusted and directed by Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
Jane Symonds-Morris
Jane Davis Symonds-Morris, 87, the beloved wife of John Elwyn Morris, Sr. of Andrews and the late Robert Wayne Symonds, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 15, 2010 at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Morris was the daughter of John Emory Davis Sr. and Mable Wilder Davis born on November 11, 1922, in Andrews, SC.
She was a 1940 graduate of Andrews High School; attended Winthrop College; and was the co-owner and operator of the Bob Daly Store.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Daughters of the Nile, and the First Baptist Church of Andrews.
Jane was the epitamy of a Southern Lady with a generous heart and robust spirit.
She will be remembered for her countless hours of baking for no one could go hungry around “Ms. Jane.”
“Bob” and Jane were married 1943 and celebrated years 38 together.
From this blessed union survives one son, Dr. Ronald Wayne (Karen) Symonds; five grandchildren, Mark Symonds, Eric (Stephanie) Symonds, Daniel Symonds, Robert Symonds, and Katherine Elizabeth Symonds; four great grandchildren, Rachel, Emily, Nick and Amy.
On July 9, 1987, Jane married John Elwyn Morris Sr. and they have celebrated 22 years together.
Also surviving are: one brother, Woody Bone; and one sister, Jeanette (Everette) Browder.
She was predeceased by her parents; her first husband; one son, Larry Davis Symonds; one brother, John Emory “Junior” Davis, Jr.; and three sisters, Mary Lee D. Green, Gertrude D. Lambert, and Lucille D. Card.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, February 18, 2010, in the Andrews First Baptist Church with interment in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday evening, February 17, 2010, at the Andrews Chapel.

Marvin Lewis Prince Sr.
As the softly falling snow made its way south, blanketing the world in holy quiet, a life passed – painfully temporary and seldom witnessed, but a joyful wonder to those lucky enough to behold it. He will be missed.
Born on May 13, 1930 in Atlanta, GA, Papa served in the 82nd Airborne and was a police officer for 28 years in Charlotte, NC. Throughout his quiet life, he embodied the qualities he valued in others — gentleness, humility and integrity.
He enjoyed working with wood, tending to his yard and listening to music. Marvin Lewis Prince Sr. was planted in death on Feb. 12, 2010 and raised in the likeness of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Cuthbertson Prince, with whom he raised three children; son, Marvin L. Prince Jr. and his wife, Debbie, son, Tony Prince and his wife, Karen, and daughter, Melody Caulder and her husband, Bruce; seven grandchildren, Katie Prince and her husband, Patrick Sprout, Capt. Taylor Prince, USMC, and his wife, Janey, Lindsey Prince, Monique Prince, Nicole Prince Davis and her husband, Graham, Dustin Deese and Jeffrey Shaver II; two great-grandchildren, Henry and Molly; and a brother, David Prince of Douglasville, Ga.
Memorials may be sent to the Kidney Foundation of South Carolina or Timberlake Baptist Church.
Thomas Small
Thomas “T.J.” Jake Small, 64, of Temperanceville, a former resident of Georgetown, S.C., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 6, 2010.
Born in Georgetown, S.C. on March 5, 1945, he proudly served as a Sgt. in Vietnam. He was also a professional Waterman.
Mr. Small was a member of the American Legion Post 159 and the National Marine Fisheries Association (NOAA).
He was the son of late, Jake Small and Eleanor Godley Small of Georgetown, S.C.
Mr. Small is survived by a sister, Betty Mobley and her husband, Lamar and niece Kari, all of South Carolina; his sons, Tommy Small and his wife Wendy of Temperanceville, Andrew Small of North Carolina; and two granddaughters, Chelsea and Courtney Small of Temperanceville.
He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Small of South Carolina.
There was a time of visitation at the Fox Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 9, from 7 to 9 p.m.
A service to celebrate his life was held at Bethel Baptist Church in Bloxom on Wednesday, February 10, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mark Layne officiating.
Interment followed at Bethel Cemetery.
