FUNERAL SERVICES
Joseph Anderson
Joseph Anderson, 83, of 113 S. Maple Avenue, Andrews, SC, departed this life on Monday, February 8, 2010 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at The Lighthouse of Jesus Christ, Georgetown, SC with Rev. Aundry Evans, officiating.
Burial followed in Morning Glory Cemetery, under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.
Mr. Anderson, a son of the late Michael and Beulah Anderson, was born May 18, 1926 in Georgetown, South Carolina.
He attended Georgetown County schools,
Survivors are his wife, Elizabeth Anderson, Andrews, SC; his daughters, Norma, Celestine and Christine; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Sylvia Brown
Sylvia E. Brown, 71, of 3729 County Line Road, Magnolia Park Apartments, Apt. 16, Andrews, SC, departed this life on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at The Lighthouse of Jesus Christ, Georgetown, SC with Rev. Aundry Evans, officiating.
Burial followed in the Morning Glory Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.
Mrs. Brown, a daughter of the late Easter Allston and Paul Evans, was born December 5, 1938 in Georgetown, South Carolina.
She was a member of Thomas Chapel AME Church.
Survivors are her husband, Robert Brown, Andrews, SC; one brother, Arthur Evans, Seattle, Wash.; three sons, Nehemiah Washington, Shreveport, LA, Stacy L. Washington, Andrews, SC and Jamie A. Washington, Loganville, GA; and three grandchildren.
Lloyd Ethridge
Lloyd Earl Ethridge Sr., 60, husband of Gloria Cox Ethridge of Andrews passed away Sunday morning, February 14, 2010 at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Ethridge was born a son of John Luther Ethridge and Linnie Estell Casselman Ethridge on January 28, 1950 in Georgetown County.
He was a professional truck driver and was a member of the Victory Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two children, Tamela “Tammy” (Ryan) Tisdale and Dorothy Elizbeth “Beth” (Randall) Freeman; four grandchildren, Courtney Wise, Lizzie Marie Freeman, Kaylee Ethridge, and Morgan Ethridge; two brothers, Harold J. (Mary Kay) Ethridge, and J.W. (Janice) Ethridge; three sisters, Barbara High, Jackie (Don) Elliott, Linnie (Bill) McCutcheon.
He was predeceased by his beloved son, Lloyd Earl “Bubba” Ethridge Jr.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, February 16, 2010, at the Piney Forest Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at the Funeral Home prior to the service.

Katie Graham
Katie Graham of 218 Postfoot Circle in Georgetown died February 10, 2010 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 15, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, directed by Linen-Knox Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Graham was born May 15, 1913 in Georgetown, S.C., a daughter of Julius Brown and Julie Ann Brown.
He was a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are Gardenia Geathers, Louvenia Holmes, Mary Gibson, Barbara Haynes and Elizabeth Graham, all of Georgetown, and Albertha Ellis Graham of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Allen Graham, Joe Graham, Charles Graham and David Graham, all of Georgetown.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Linen-Knox Funeral Home.
Donald Hardee
Donald Ray Hardee, 68, of Georgetown died Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mr. Hardee was born in Horry Co. on November 18, 1941, a son of the late Orbie Lee Hardee and Lorie Paul Hardee Stokes.
He grew up in Andrews and Georgetown and served in the Navy.
He was a graduate of Gaston Technical Institute in Gastonia, N.C.
Mr. Hardee was a salesman for Hunt Wesson Foods for a number of years and the former owner of Island Cleaners in Pawley Island and Northgate Cleaners in Myrtle Beach.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Woodmen of the World, and a Mason.
Mr. Hardee was predeceased by a twin sister, Doris Faye Hardee, who died at birth.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy McDonald Hardee of Georgetown; a daughter Sherri Hardee Brown (Troy Lee) of New Bern, N.C.; a sister, Betty H. Hanna of Walterboro; and four grandchildren, Nicole Stone and Corey Stone, both of Georgetown and T. J. Brown and Gregory Brown, both of New Bern, N. C.
Funeral services will be two o’clock Monday afternoon, February 15, 2010, at First Baptist Church.
Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrill. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

George Matthews
George L. “Nookie” Matthews, 64, husband of Janie Faye Jones Matthews of Pamplico, passed away Saturday morning, February 13, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Matthews was born a son of George Leon Matthews and Pauline Caraway Matthews on May 13, 1945 in Johnsonville, SC.
He was a painter and an avid fisherman and gardener.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Tammy M. (Tim) Driggers; two grandchildren, Shannon P. (Mark) Lusk, and Duston L. Powell; two great grandchildren, Ryland C. Lusk and Kyley J. Lusk; two brothers, David (Daisey) Matthews, and Tiny (Miriam) Matthews; and two sisters, Jeanette Murrow and Jetty Rue (Whiteford) Purvis.
Funeral services will be 6:30 PM, Monday evening, February 15, 2010, at the Hemigway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.
Committal Cememony will be 11 AM Tuesday morning February 16, 2010, at the Old Landing Cemetery.

William Mercer
William Dan Mercer, 81, of Georgetown died Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mr. Mercer was born in Andrews on September 27, 1928, a son of the late William Danie Mercer and Virginia Munn Mercer.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired January 1, 1993 from International Paper Company.
Mr. Mercer was a member of Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church and a former member and Sunday School Superintendent of Old Good Hope Church in Upper Georgetown Co.
He loved football, gardening and reading.
Born the fifth of six children, he was predeceased by brother Harry Edward in 1943 and Sumter in 1991 and sisters, Hazel in 2009 and Lila in 2010.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Reba Tyler Mercer of Georgetown; a daughter, Karen Haselden (Wyatt) of Georgetown; grandsons, Tyler Haselden and Nick Haselden, both of Georgetown; a brother, Guy “Billy” W. Mercer (Willie) of Hemingway; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Sunday afternoon, February 14, 2010, at three o’clock in Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church.
Officiating was the Rev. Michael S. Leonhardt.
Burial followed in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening, February 13, 2010, from four until six o’clock at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
