FUNERAL SERVICES

Lottie Allen

Lottie Mae Richardson Allen, 93, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Georgetown, S.C., widow of Lawrence W. Allen, died Wednesday, 22, 2012 in Eagle River, Alaska.

Mrs. Allen was born in Portageville, Mo. on November 13, 1914, a daughter of the late William Johnson Richardson and Henrietta Harris Richardson.  

She was a retired employee of General Motors.  

Mrs. Allen was a former resident of Morningside of Georgetown.

Surviving are a daughter, Betty Barrett of Georgetown; two granddaughters, Kathy Kelley (Edward) and Martha Miller, both of Georgetown; four great-grandchildren, Edward Kelley, Betsy Kelley Thomas, Michael Smith and Molly Miller; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning, August 29, 2012, at the graveside in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens in Georgetown. Officiating will be the Rev. Keith Wall.

Ella Mays

Ella Mae Greer Mays, 85, of Hemingway, S.C., a beloved mother and the widow of Cecil Ruben Mays, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday morning, August 21, 2012, at her residence.

Mrs. Mays was born a daughter of Edgar Greer and Myrtle Oaks Greer on November 6, 1926 in Minneapolis, N.C.  

She committed her life to acts of selfless giving, fervent prayer and an unconditional love to earn her the distinguished title – Beloved Mother.

She leaves behind two children, Cecil Dale Mays and Donna Carol Cribb; four grandchildren, Tammy J. Hickman, April R. Collins, Melisa Mays, and Michael Mays; and a brother, Frank Greer.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Brenda Mays Ross; a brother, Ernest Greer; three sisters, Martha Greer, Nell Greer Lamb and Marie Greer; and a grandchild, Larry Dale Ross Jr.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012, in the Merchant Hope Memorial Gardens, directed by the JT Morriss & Son Funeral Home.   

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at the JT Morriss & Son Hopewell Chapel.

Marian Mims

Marian Ann Gamble Mims, 73, widow of Larry S. Mims, passed away on August 23, 2012 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.

Born on August 3, 1939, in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Charlton E. Gamble and the late Katherine Duncan Gamble.  

Mrs. Mims was a member of First Baptist Church of Georgetown and the Lide Williams Sunday School Class.

She was a retired school teacher and enjoyed reading.

Survivors include two sons, Matthew L. Mims (Gilda) of Georgetown, and Marcus G. Mims (Teresa) of Huntersville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Hannah Mims and Sadie Mims, both of Georgetown and Cody Mims and Kendell Mims, both of Huntersville, N.C.; and one brother Charlton E. “Sonny” Gamble Jr. of Georgetown.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Gamble Mims.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday August 26, 2012 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Sherrill officiating.

Burial will follow at 5 p.m. in the Horse Branch Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Turbeville.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
