Charles Brady
Charles Brady, 72, beloved father, of Georgetown, S.C. departed this life on Wednesday morning, April 18, 2012, at his residence.
Mr. Brady was born the son of Eugene Brady and Mary Lou Barrette Brady on November 10, 1939 in Mississippi.
He was a retired employee with International Paper Company and attended the Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He leaves behind two daughters, Tammy (Marty) Britt and Pat Brady; two grandchildren, Lance Britt and Shallon Brady; and a brother, Albert (Donna) Brady.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Marty R. Britt Jr.; a brother, Jerry Brady; and two sisters, Katherine Ezell and Jannie Hallingworth.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Interment will follow in the Alford-Wiggins Cemetery, directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening, April 20, 2012 at the Georgetown Chapel.

Minnie Generette
Funeral services for the late Minnie Mae Generette will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at St. James Baptist Church in Johnsonville, S.C.
Interment will follow in the St. Mark Cemetery, directed by Nesmith~Pinckney Funeral Home, Inc.

A Time To be Born
Minnie Mae Generette was born on April 25, 1947 in Williamsburg County, S.C. to the late Carrie Greene and Frank Thompson.
She received her education at Stuckey School in Johnsonville, S.C.
She cooked many many years for the Poston Family of Johnsonville.
Mrs. Generette later became a private duty nurse for the Tanner and McCloud family.
She worked faithfully until her health failed.
A Time To Love
Minnie Mae was married to the late Mack Arthur Generette.
Three children, three brothers, and one sister proceeded her in death.
Those left to cherish her loving memories are her children, Danny Generette of the home, Janet (Don) McClary of Charleston, S.C., and Bernice Greene, Stephanie White, Charlene Graham, Mackey Stuckey, Jimmy L. White, and Kevin (Selena) Generette, all of Johnsonville, S.C.; four sisters, Peggie (Sam) Cooper of Nesmith, S.C.; Cathy (Matthew) of Loris, S.C.; Vera and Christy Greene of Florence, S.C.; five brothers, Frankie (Maudell) Greene of Newark, N.J.; Harvey (Lacresha) Greene of Maiden, N.C.; Frank (Christine) Greene of Johnsonville, S.C.; Joseph (Carmen) Greene of Olanta, S.C. and William (Christy) Greene of California; four aunts, Irene McCray of Johnsonville, S.C.; Johnnie Mae Thompson of Hemingway, S.C.; Louisia Williams of Wilmington, Dela. and Cassandra (Willie) Thomas of Prince George, Va.; one uncle, Ned Thompson of Hemingway, S.C.; one devoted friend, Glenn McGill of Johnsonville, S.C.; one god daughter, Lenora Bell; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lorine McCown
Funeral service for the late Mrs. Lorine G. McCown will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Hopewell AME Church in Hemingway, S.C.
Interment will follow in the Hopewell AME Church Cemetery in Hemingway, S.C., directed by Nesmith~Pinckney Funeral Home, Inc.
Mrs. McCown was born November 21, 1931 in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Isaac Gibson and Resa Hutcherson.
She entered into eternal rest on April 16, 2012 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown, S.C.
She was reared in Williamsburg County and was educated at Chavis School.
Mrs. McCown was united in Holy wedlock to Mr. Richard McCown Sr.
To this union seven children were born. Two proceeded her to death.
Mrs. McCown joined Hopewell AME Church and was an active member.
She was also a member of Stewardess Board number one, the Missionary Society, and the Usher Board who was very faithful in what she did.
She was employed with Dubois Dye Company in Johnsonville, S.C., Warner Brothers Sewing Factory and Tupperware.
Lorine has touched many lives that will continue to embrace and treasure the loving memories that will be kept close in our hearts.
Those that will always cherish her precious memories are three daughters, Laura Fulmore of Hemingway, S.C., Ethel (Terry) Gordon of Union City, Ga. and Glenda McCown of the home; three sons, Charles Edward McCown of the home, Gerald (Carolyn) of Lexington, N.C.; and Richard (Miriam) McCown Jr. of New Haven, Conn.; two sisters, Helen Gillard of Englewood, N.Y. and Anna Dozier of Rochester, N.Y.; one brother, Jimmy Gibson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Peggy McCown of New Haven, Conn.; one brother-in-law, George Frazier of Hemingway, S.C.; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Joshua Sargent
Joshua Sargent, 83, of Georgetown, S.C. died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Sargent will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Arnett AME Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.
Family visitation was held 6 p.m. Thursday evening, April 19, 2012 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.
Josh, as he was fondly called, was born May 9, 1928 in Georgetown, S.C. to Henry Sargent and Mrs. Josephine Gibson Sargent.
He attended the public schools of Georgetown County.
The foundation of his religious training was at Arnett A.M.E. Church where he was a member for decades.
At Arnett he served as a member of the Male Choir and the Combined Choir, was a former trustee of the church and a member of the Sons of Allen Organization.
He was a man that loved to sing, was a member of the Sunset Jubilee Singers which originated as James Wilson and the Gospelaires.
Josh was the last original member of the Gospelaires.
His service as a police officer for the city of Georgetown was dutiful.
For a number of years, he was also employed at Tony’s Famous Pizza and with The School District of Georgetown County, and retired from the latter.
His survivors include his children, Joshua Sargent Jr. of Newton, N.J., Charles O’Neal Sargent Sr. of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; Glennie Sargent Sr. of Georgetown, Belinda Sargent-Green of Georgetown and Freda Sargent-Perlman of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two sisters, Katie Guiles and Hattie Wilson, both of Bronx, N.Y.; two brothers, Clarence Sargent and Ernest Sargent of New York, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service arrangements are entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
Bertha Thomas
Bertha A. Thomas, 73, of Andrews, the widow of Edward L. “Shorty” Thomas Sr. went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, April 18, 2012, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mrs. Thomas was born the daughter of Andrew Columbus Goude and Janie Cox Goude on February 5, 1939 in Andrews.
She was a retired employee of Oneita Industries and member of Gourdines Chapel. She committed her life to acts of selfless giving for her family and friends to earn her the distinguished title — Beloved Mother.
She leaves behind a daughter, Sylvia West; a son, Furman Thomas Jr.; three grandchildren, Danielle, Christopher, and Cyle; and two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Drew.
She also leaves behind a brother, David Goude; a sister, Leona Patenuade; loved as her own children, Joe (Nancy) Newton; and the father of her children, Furman Thomas Sr.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Arthur Goude and Welldon Goude; and a sister, Frances Ward.
A Going Home Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Gourdines Chapel, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening, April 20, 2012 in the church sanctuary.

Frances Ward
Frances Louise Ward, 82, of Georgetown, S.C. died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at her residence.
Miss Ward was born in Georgetown on June 1, 1929, a daughter of the late Henry Hapgood Ward and Julia Effie Wilson Ward.
She lived in Georgetown all of her life and was a graduate of Winyah High School.
Miss Ward was a former school crossing guard for the Georgetown City Police Department.
She was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and was dedicated to all of her nieces and nephews.
Surviving are six nephews, Robert V. Hendriks (Shirley) of Durham, N.C., R. Howard Ward (Frances) of Pawleys Island, David A. Hendriks (Terry) of St. Petersburg, Fla., William J. Hendriks (Janet) and John Michael Hendriks (Gail), all of Georgetown, and H. Prentiss Ward Jr. (Patricia) of Spring Hill, Fla.; and three nieces, Sarah Dingle Ward (Roger), Judy E. Myers (Tommy) and Johnnie W. Bonnoitt, all of Pawleys Island.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, April 22, 2012 at the graveside in Elmwood Cemetery.
Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. G. Edward Usher.
