Elsie Hobgood
Elsie Lyons Hobgood, 80, passed into eternal life Saturday, July 10, 2010 following a short illness at the Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrell’s Inlet, SC.
Born March 7, 1930, to the late David E. and Lucy Esther Kimble Lyons, she was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, retired from General Electric after 20 years and K-Mart after 19 years.
Mrs. Hobgood was married on December 26, 1946, to Everett (Jr.) Hobgood, who died in December, 2003.
She enjoyed her church family, gospel music, traveling, crocheting and caring for her special great-granddaughter, Marybeth.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Lyons and Patsy Lyons Coke, and one brother, Roy Melvin Lyons.
Surviving are her daughter, Maryln Saunders Harris of Owensboro, Ky.; her sons, Darrol Everett Hobgood (Debby) of Owensboro, Ky. and Doyle Allen Hobgood (Debbie) of Andrews, SC; seven grandchildren; Chad Saunders, Alicia Schwartz, Kathy Hobgood, Aliena Hobgood, Ashley Hobgood, Jamie Lambert, and Lisa Gaskins; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Truman Lyons (Geraldine) of Owensboro, Ky. and Rev. James Lyons (Freeda) of Danville, Ky.; two sisters, Jean Evelyn Hobgood of Central City, Ky. and Sarah Bowling of Owensboro, Ky; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are at noon on Saturday, July 17 2010 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery in Bremen, Ky.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Eugene Osborne
Mr. Eugene Howard Osborne, 69, husband of Jane Snyder Osborne, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 in Mobile, Ala.
Mr. Osborne was born July 3, 1941, in Tacoma,Va., the son of the late Lacey and Beatrice Whitehead Osborne.
He was a Mason and a Shriner of Omar Temple in Orlando, Fla.
He was also a member of the Florida Army National Guard.
Survivors are his wife, Jane Snyder Osborne of Mobile Alabama; his son, Johnny Eugene Osborne of Georgetown, SC; three daughters, Susan Osborne (Jim) Baldwin, of Pawleys Island, SC; Cheryl Lynne Osborne of Georgia and Lacey Snyder Osborne of Mobile, Ala.; one sister, Margaret (Roy) Miracle of Columbus, Ind.; two brothers, Robert (Sherry) Osborne of Merritt Island, Fla. and Bernard (Nancy) Osborne of Rockledge Fla.; five grandchildren, Meaghan Morris, Davis Morris, Dylan Morris and Jameson Baldwin, all of Pawleys Island, SC and Macy Osborne of Georgetown, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
At his request, his body will be donated to the State of Alabama Anatomical Gifts Program for research and studies.

Ervin Pickett
Mr. Ervin Pickett, 70, of Murrells Inlet, SC departed this life on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Gordon Chapel AME Church in Murrells Inlet, SC with Rev. E. Palowden officiating.
Burial follows in Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.
Mr. Pickett was the son of the late George Pickett Sr. and Lucille Days Pickett.
Survivors are six brothers, Roosevelt Pickett, Joe Pickett, George Pickett Jr., Raymond Pickett and Michael Pickett, all of Murrells Inlet, SC and Joseph Robinson of Philadelphia, Pa.; three sisters, Evelyn Singleton of Washington, DC, and Elizabeth Knox and Varnier Pickett, both of Murrells Inlet, SC.
Rhetta Terry
Frances Loretta “Retta” Marlowe Terry, 47, of Andrews, a beloved mother and the wife of Troy Benjamin Terry Jr., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, July 11, 2010 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Terry was born a daughter of Julius Marlowe and Frances Rebecca Harwell Marlowe on September 21, 1962 in Georgetown County.
She was an former employee of Oneita Industries.
Until the final years of her sickness, she attended the Williamsburg Pentecostal Holiness Church.
“Retta” and Troy were married June 22, 1996 and celebrated 14 years together.
She is also survived by Sgt. Julian Christopher (Daphne Tilton) Marlowe, SC ARNG; five grandchildren, Whitney, J.C., Kassidy, Levi and Colby; and her extended grandchildren, Matt, Dillion, Justin and Lance; and her extended family, “Big John,” Mary, Tonya, Kimberly, Little John and Michele.
She was predeceased by her parents and a son, Tyler Benjamin Terry.
A Celebration of Eternal Life was held graveside at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Bethel Cemetery, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
