Georgetown SC — Three men who were working during the shutdown at International Paper Co. were treated for minor injuries after an incident Friday afternoon.
IP Communications Manager Kim Gill said two contract workers got sick while working inside a vessel as part of the annual maintenance operation.
A third man saw they were having trouble and called for an in-house emergency crew to respond.
The two men were removed from the vessel. They, and the third man, were transported to the hospital for evaluation.
County Assistant Fire Chief Tony Hucks said hospital workers required the men to be decontaminated before being allowed inside.
Hucks said the men were never exposed to a hazardous chemical.
