A Pawleys Island real estate agent who had announced he was running as a Republican for House District 108 withdrew from the race this week.
Randy Hollister, who works with Realestar in Pawleys Island, said he realized he didn’t have enough time to campaign and serve in office.
“It’s takes a lot of time to campaign and serving takes a lot of time,” he said. “I’m afraid it would spread me too thin. Better to make a decision now than further on down the road.”
He said he will endorse another candidate for the office after the filing period ends.
Filing begins March 16 and ends March 31.
Hollister said in an e-mail that he appreciated the support he had received during his campaign.
“The many words of encouragement and generous offers of volunteer time and financial support have been very humbling to Debbie and me,” he said. “I regret disappointing those who wanted me to run. In the end, I just could not commit the time required to campaign and to serve. I pledge to you that I will remain involved in the discourse and do what I can from outside the legislature to influence responsible, conservative public policy.”
