A Georgetown woman who was arrested Friday for allegedly stabbing her cousin remained in jail Sunday under a $26,163 bond.

Laswana Gamble, 18 of Winyah Street was arrested by Georgetown police one day after she allegedly stabbed her female cousin during an argument.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson said Gamble was at the home of her cousin at  138 Mahogany Avenue in Andrews Thursday afternoon when the altercation began. She said Gamble took a knife out of her purse cut her cousin who suffered multiple wounds.

The victim, whose name was not released, was transported to the Georgetown Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Gamble fled the scene.

Georgetown Police Capt. Nelson Brown said Investigator John Gregory heard Gamble's description Friday over the radio  and happened to be behind the vehicle she was in at the time. He initiated a traffic stop and Gamble's mother — who was driving the car — pulled into the parking lot of the police department. Gamble was then taken into custody and was released to the Andrews Police Department.

According to jail records, she is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and shoplifting.
