Voices will be lifted in prayer and praise tonight at Winyah Auditorium as Georgetown County churches celebrate the National Day of Prayer.

The county-wide event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the recently-reopened auditorium on Highmarket Street in Georgetown.

“Pastors from various denominations and churches, and choirs, will be involved,” Rev. Carl Anderson said. He is spearheading a group effort to continue the long-standing tradition of praying for the nation.

Among the choirs will be the Georgetown High School Gospel Choir and the Carvers Bay High School Choir.

Also, the Joint Revival Choir will sing. Members come from five churches, Bethesda and First Calvary Missionary Baptist churches and Bethel, Dickerson and Greater St. Stephen AME churches. Other choirs and groups will also be involved.

“Participation is open to all. Everyone is invited, all races and denominations,” Anderson said.

The Georgetown County National Day of Prayer is a continuation of efforts from the past and it will continue into the future, he said.
