Drivers who travel Highway 701 between Georgetown and Horry Counties at night will have to find an alternate route beginning Nov. 5.
That is when a nearly two month long project to make repairs to the Yauhannah Lake and Pee Dee River Bridges will begin.
The work will take place between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday - Saturday mornings. There may be times Saturday and Sunday night bridge closures will be needed but, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation, the weekend closures should be limited.
During the closure, a detour will be set up directing northbound traffic onto Highway 51 (Browns Ferry Road). Another alternate route is Highway 17 to Highway 707 in Murrells Inlet.
The bridge was built in 1953. The foundation of the bridge is in need of repair to stop settling.
The repairs are expected to be complete by the end of December.
