Even though it’s 19 months until the presidential election, the local Tea Party is fired up and are “ready for a change.”
The 3rd annual Georgetown County Tea Party rally was held Friday evening at Frances Marion Park on Front Street.
About a hundred people were on hand as a series of guest speakers expressed their feelings on the current state of America.
Local resident Eileen Johnson agreed but said there are problems on the local level that need to be corrected.
She said there is one employee for every 51 residents in the City of Georgetown and on the county level the ratio is one for every 88 residents.
She also noted that, when combined, the top ten highest paid Georgetown County School District workers earn more than $1 million.
Senator Ray Cleary, a Republican, spoke very briefly saying we “need to restore the optimism that was once part of our country.”
The annual event is organized by Vikki Ferris, president of the GOP Patriot's Club.
