Tornado watch in effect until 5 p.m.
Published Wednesday, December 26, 2012 4:45 AM
This map from the Severe Storms Prediction Center shows the Grand Strand could see rough weather today.
It is not often the Severe Storms Prediction Center places an area under a "moderate" risk of severe thunderstorms, but the Grand Strand is under that category today.
Storms containing severe lightning, strong winds, hail and tornadoes are a possibility today.
A tornado watch is in effect until 5 p.m.
The worst of the weather is expected between now 4 p.m., forecasters say.
The storms are ahead of a cold front that will be moving through and dropping temperatures once again.
After a high today near 70 degrees, expect a high near 53 tomorrow.
We will keep you updated on any Georgetown County weather-related news throughout the day.
