Christmas came early for the boys at AMIKids Georgetown (formerly known as Georgetown Marine Institute).

On Sunday night the boys were surprised by a group outside their dining hall singing Christmas carols.

All of a sudden, the lights in the hall went out, leaving only the lights from a Christmas tree, and these “strangers” started filing into the hall.

Each one was carrying candles and singing Silent Night.

These strangers were members of the Knights of Columbus who, with their wives and friends, were there to bring the joy that many of us feel during this wonderful celebration of Christmas.

They brought all kinds of foods and home-made desserts and served the boys as their royal guests.

The story of the birth of Christ was read to them. The group discussed the meaning of Christmas.

Then — suddenly — bells were heard, then laughing, and there appeared Santa himself bringing many gifts of much-needed winter clothing.

It was a beautiful night to be remembered.

St. Christopher’s Children donated clothing, and other gifts were donated by friends of AMIKids.

Needless to say, the boys were excited and grateful to all who expressed so much caring and love for them at this wonderful time of year.
