Ballots in November's general election will have a referendum question. The measure will ask Georgetown County voters whether they want to approve a one percent sales tax increase.
County Council approved the measure Tuesday night by a vote of 5-2. Councilmen Ron Charlton and Bob Anderson voted against the measure.
About 20 people spoke at the council meeting, with most saying they wanted voters to be able to decide whether there should be a sales tax increase to help pay for a variety of capital improvements.
