Georgetown Mayor Jack Scoville says last week’s interviews with the four finalists hoping to be the city’s next administrator were very productive and he is still hoping a hire will be made this month.

The four met one-on-one with individual City Council members Friday and with the entire council on Saturday.

“We had very good interviews. They all would make a great administrator,” Scoville said.

The four finalists are: Christopher Carter, currently the Williston administrator; Rose Dobson-Elliott, former administrator for Bamberg County; Bryan Hill, deputy county administrator in Beaufort County; and Daniel Wells, Kingstree town administrator.

Scoville said some Council members have a few more questions they would like to have answered, so the consultant who has been conducting the search is now trying to gather that information.

He said all the finalists, with the exception of Dobson-Elliott, are currently employed so it would take extra time for them to relocate if they are hired.

Because of that, the contract for interim-administrator Carey Smith — which was supposed to expire Dec. 15 — has been extended an additional 60 days.

Scoville said he is hoping Smith can work with the new administrator for at least two weeks after the person begins the job.

City council meets again Dec. 20. Scoville said he expects an announcement on who is hired can be made at that meeting.
