A 29-year-old Georgetown man was still in jail Thursday afternoon after being arrested for allegedly slashing another man with a box cutter.
Chase Roberts, of Leihman Place, is charged with aggravated assault and simple assault due to an incident that occurred at a home on Swallow Ave. Tuesday night.
The 19-year-old victim, who lives in Socastee, said he was staying the night with his girlfriend who lives at that location.
He said while he was there he heard someone knocking and kicking the front door and then heard his girlfriend arguing with someone, the incident report states.
He told deputies when he walked in the room to see what was going on, Roberts “came at him with a box cutter.”
He said he was able to “slam” Roberts on the ground but was cut on his right side during the struggle.
He said he hit Roberts twice, causing him to drop the blade.
He said he picked it up and put it in his pocket.
Roberts reportedly told the victim he would “regret this” and allegedly threatened to return with a gun.
Although Roberts did return a short while later, the report states, he stayed on the neighboring property and then left again without further incident.
The victim’s girlfriend said Roberts is her ex-boyfriend and he had forced his way into the house.
She then grabbed her children and ran out the back of the house and called 911.
The victim had to be treated for “severe lacerations” at the emergency room
