Ken Moran said he couldn’t just sit back quietly as local schools get ready to administer H1N1 Flu vaccine shots next week because he claims they are dangerous and parents have not been given full information.
School officials say information sent to parents last week gave details about the shots and the possible side effects.
Moran, who is not a doctor, said he has studied the issue and is convinced the vaccinations that will be offered in the next few weeks are harmful.
He was armed with a sign and a fistful of letters which he distributed to parents at both McDonald and Kensington Elementary Schools Wednesday.
“As a Christian minister, I am charged by God to warn you of the terrible punishment for sin as well as sound the alarm on physical threats to you,” Moran states in the letter he distributed.
The letter continues with a claim children who receive the shots will actually be exposed to the H1N1 virus.
“We have no idea what these viruses may cause once mutations occur,” he wrote.
He encouraged parents to visit various Websites to study the issue for themselves.
District Superintendent Dr. Randy Dozier said the shots, which will be give to elementary students next week and others at a later time, are being given by DHEC and Georgetown Hospital System, not the school district.
“Everyone will make their own decision on whether to take the shot. It’s a personal decision for families,” Dozier said. “I am not offering an opinion. I am just saying it will be here for whoever wants it.”
