JORDAN

Membership director

for the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce

Bio:

Native of the Pleasant Hill community of Georgetown

Graduate of USC with degree in public relations, advertising

What do you like about your job?

I like to build relationships with people and help businesses know their options.

I help them know what is out there and how the Chamber can help them with our different programs.

It is amazing how different businesses are and how we have to taylor the ways we help a company based on it’s needs.

A Chamber of Commerce membership is probably the most valuable investment you can make for your business.

What are your responsibilities with the Chamber?

I call on businesses that are not Chamber members and introduce them to the membership products and services we offer.

I help existing members by educating them on ways to use their Chamber investment to help their businesses.

I am also in charge of events like Business After Hours and a new event we started last month called Coffee and Contacts, which is a face-to-face speed networking event.

Can you tell me about this new event?

We hold it at the Chik-Fil-A in Murrells Inlet on the third Friday of each month.

The premise is to step out of your comfort zone and talk to people you might not talk to otherwise.

It is one hour to start the day off on the right track.

In pairs, each person shares information about his or her company for two minutes, and then the other person shares for two minutes.

After that four minutes, everyone switches partners.

Business After Hours is a great event, but some people might not be comfortable to talk to people in that type of atmosphere.

What kind of responses have you heard about it?

That is what I like most about Coffee and Contacts.

I have had several people come up to me and say that they picked up a lead or they had numerous calls after the event with people following up.

In today’s economy, working together is a great thing.

What other ways do you help in the community?

I have volunteered with St. Frances for their Black Tie and Tales event.

I also work with the Cherub Choir at my church, Garden City Baptist Church.

Can you tell me about your family?

My husband, Bobby Jordan, is a Remax realtor.

We have a son, Colin, who is 8 months old.

We have lived in Murrells Inlet for about five years.
