H1N1 vaccine given in local elementary schools
Published Thursday, November 05, 2009 10:29 PM
Browns Ferry Elementary School fourth grader Jamile Young was excited about getting his H1N1 flu shot Wednesday. Chatting with his volunteer nurse from Waccamaw Community Hospital, Jill Smith, Jamile was in the middle of telling her he was going to grow up and be a football star for the Carvers Bay Bears when he felt "a pinch." But just as quickly as he felt the pinch, his vaccination experience was over and he was back telling anyone who would listen that the bright future of Bears’ football was going to include one Jamile Young scoring touchdowns. Smith was one of many nurses from Georgetown Memorial and Waccamaw Community hospitals who helped vaccinate school children.
