County Council approves $721,156 for Tourism Management Commission
Georgetown County Council approved a $721,156 budget for the Tourism Management Commission for July 2012 through June 2013.
The commission gets 30 percent of the county’s Accommodations Tax Funding.
Included in the budget is $495,012.60 for print and Internet advertising; $105,000 for administration expenses; $71,100 for professional services; $31,103.77 for website maintenance; $31,103.77 for public relations; $30,000 for postage; $20,735.86 for contingency marketing; $1,000 for office supplies; and $100 for telecommunications.
The Chamber of Commerce is the county’s designated agency for tourism promotion.
Last year’s tourism budget was $701,127.
In other business
• Council hired D&L Sitework Inc. as the general contractor on the new Olive Park in Andrews.
D&L presented the lowest of the 13 bids received.
Council approved a $3.069 million contract, which includes demolition of concrete slabs and a railroad spur; construction of five baseball fields and a concession stand; installation of lights, fences, gates, parking lots and sidewalks; and landscaping.
Olive Park is part of the county’s Capital Improvement Plan.
