Georgetown city workers who have been participating in a weight loss program have lost hundreds of pounds since the beginning of the year.

Debra Mumford, the city’s director of human resources, gave City Council the results of the first ‘Mission Slimpossible’ at its monthly meeting Thursday evening.

She said 60 municipal workers were involved with the program when it started in January.

“We had about 35 who were continuing to lose weight at our last weigh-in which took place in June,” Mumford said.

She said in total, the workers lost 488 pounds.

The biggest weight loser was Pam Gaddy. She lost 20.86 percent of her body weight.

Mayor Jack Scoville, during the presentation, announced he lost 3.5 percent of his body weight.

“I need this program to continue. Every time I go by the ice cream shop I am attracted to it,” Scoville said.

Mumford said she plans to begin Mission Slimpossible 2 sometime next month.

During the program, workers compete against each other and prizes are awarded from time to time during the periodic weigh-ins.
