GEORGETOWN, S.C. — The drainage project in the City of Georgetown is underway.
A test piling was conducted Wednesday to determine the suitability of the site at the corner of Front and Dozier Streets for the building that will house the new pump system, said Billy Gardner of Republic Contracting.
The work will get underway next week.
Once the $14 million project is complete in 2012, it is expected to alleviate the flooding problems that have been a part of life in the city during heavy rains for decades.
