Beryl 11 p.m update

At 1100 PM the center of Tropical Depression Beryl was located near latitude 32.2 north...longitude 81.3 west. About 85 miles west-southwest of Charleston.

The depression is moving toward the east-northeast near 10 mph. An east-northeast motion with an increase in forward speed is expected during the next day or so.  On the forecast track...the

center of Beryl is expected to move off the coast of southern South

Carolina early Wednesday and move along or just off the coast of South and North Carolina through Wednesday evening.

Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph...45 km/h...with higher

gusts.  Little change in strength is expected tonight...but Beryl

could regain tropical-storm status on Wednesday as it moves off

the coast of the Carolinas.

Flood Watch

Tropical Depression Beryl along with abundant Atlantic moisture will move into the area tonight and across the area early Wednesday. This will lead to total rainfall amounts of two to

four inches with isolated higher amounts..

Although yearly rainfall totals continue to average below

normal... heavy rainfall occurring in a relatively short span of

time could produce localized flooding..
