The names of the four finalists for the position of Georgetown City Administrator were released Thursday and all four are currently South Carolina residents.

More than 220 resumes were received for the job, which was vacated in June by Chris Eldridge after he was hired to serve as Horry County Administrator. Carey Smith of Rock Hill has been serving as interim administrator but his contract with the city expires Dec. 15.

The four finalists for the job who will meet with city council members today and Saturday are: Christopher Carter, Rose Dobson-Elliott, Bryan Hill and Daniel Wells. A photo of Hill was not available at press time.

Carter, from Williston, S.C., has served as that town's administrator for the past two years. He also spent 14 years as the city administrator in Hendersonville, N.C. Carter was also the North Wilkesboro, N.C. town manager for six years.

Dobson-Elliott was the administrator for Bamberg County for six years. She resigned that position in May of this year. She has also worked as administrator of development services for Jasper County and Hampton County administrator.

Hill served as deputy county administrator in Beaufort County for four years and was previously vice-chancellor of finance for the University of South Carolina's Beaufort campus.

Wells has served as the Kingstree town administrator for the past three years and he spent seven years as the executive director of the Irmo-Chapin Recreation District.

All four finalists will take a tour of the city and its facilities this morning. Also during the day, council members will take turns privately interviewing each finalist.

They will be joined by their spouses at a reception this evening which will be attended by council and the city's department heads.

On Saturday morning, council will hold an executive session to interview each contender for the job.

Smith said after the interviews, council will decide if they would like more information or additional interviews with any of the finalists.

He is unsure when the new administrator will be hired but expects it will be before his contract expires.

Mayor Jack Scoville has said he would like the new person to be in place by Jan. 1.
