Police Blotter: Beeping ankle bracelet leads to 911 harassment
Published Monday, December 19, 2011 9:19 AM

A Deep Creek area man who has been ordered by the court to wear an ankle bracelet is accused of getting drunk and harassing a 911 dispatcher Dec. 10.

The 34-year-old man called the dispatcher asking for a telephone number. The dispatcher told the man to call directory assistance because 911 is for emergencies only.

The man got mad and started cursing at the dispatcher. After the dispatcher hung up, the man called back and continued yelling and cursing saying he did not care what the dispatcher or law enforcement said.

When a deputy arrived at the man’s home, he did not calm down. He started cursing at the officer saying he could not believe he would come to his house for this sort of thing.

He continued his tirade as he was placed in the back of the patrol car and once at jail he had to be placed in a rubber room.

When the man finally answered why he called 911, he said it was because his ankle brace was beeping and he could not make it stop.

Rape accusation

Very few details have been released about an alleged rape reported to the Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy met the 20-year-old alleged victim at the Conway Hospital Dec. 10.

She said she had been raped by a 29-year-old man while in the North Santee community the previous night.

The case was turned over to investigators.

Teen threatened with car

A Kensington area woman says her 14-year old son has been harassed by a 16-year-old recently. The taunting took a frightening turn Dec. 9 when the 16-year-old allegedly tried to run over the younger boy with a vehicle in the parking lot of Poston’s Seafood on Highway 701.

The 14-year-old said the same teen and another person slapped him while they were in school. His mother was expected to talk to the principal about the on-campus incidents.

Missing wedding band

Deputies met with an 18-year-old Gapway Road woman Dec. 12 who said her wedding band is missing.

She said she knows it was in her wallet in her purse the previous evening but when she went to retrieve it she discovered it was gone.

She said there was a man at her home the evening the ring vanished but it is unknown if he is responsible.

Found cocaine

If anyone lost a bag of cocaine, it can be retrieved at the County Sheriff’s Office.

A man from County Line Road called 911 Dec. 12 after finding the bag of cocaine in the grass next to his driveway as he was walking to check his mail.

The bigger bag contained several smaller bags of cocaine.

The bag was confiscated by the deputy to be placed into evidence.
