The following reports were collected  from local law enforcement offices:

Unlawful alarm

An employee of Prince George Nursing Home was issued a citation Oct. 22 after he conducted a fire drill without notifying authorities it was taking place.

The man said he did notify the alarm company but did not call the fire or police departments.

A female worker at the nursing home said she was the one who made the call to 911 after being told to do so.

Since it was the man’s actions that prompted the call resulting in a response by the fire department, he was the one cited and is scheduled to appear in court in January.

Student scuffle

Several Carvers Bay High students were involved in an altercation after one of them, a 17-year-old, allegedly used a metal object from the school’s weight room to smash the windshield of a Chevrolet Impala belonging to another student.

It happened after football practice Oct. 20 and coaches broke up the fight then called police.

According to the students, it all started when a student was accused of stealing money. That resulted in the suspect being punched.

He said he beat the windshield because he was mad about being punched.

One student received a hand injury when he tried to break up the fight.

The parents of the students were called and it was agreed no charges would be filled as long as the suspect paid for a new windshield.

Harassment at BK

A Georgetown Burger king manager called police Oct. 21 because of a man at a house behind the restaurant was harassing customers who were using the drive-through.

The suspect was reportedly “yelling and cursing” at a woman who had her young child in the vehicle.  The 20-something year-old man allegedly called her a vulgar name while telling her she did not want the food she was ordering.

The woman told police when she stepped out of her vehicle to ask the man why he was cursing her, he ran into a house on Bonds Street.

Police said  when they arrived, the woman’s child was “crying hysterically and said he was scared.”

So far, no charges have been filed.

Fooled on the Net

A 38-year-old Pawleys Island man told deputies he met a woman on the Internet and she “is not who she said she was.”

He said he has asked the 40-year-old North Carolina woman to stop calling him.

The man said the woman stopped by his house Oct. 20 and his roommate informed her he was not home.

The victim said the obviously obsessed woman sent him several text messages and even called his father’s cell phone in an attempt to make contact.

The man was told he would have to meet with a magistrate if he wanted to press charges.

Burnt church property

The pastor of Trinity AME Church on Carvers Bay Road got worried when he saw a patch of grass near the building was burned Oct. 21. He told police he feared someone was trying to burn down the church.

Deputies noted the charred grass was next to the road, not next to the church.

“It was concluded this was not a suspicious act,” the report states.

The pastor was advised to call the deputies again if he saw anything else.

Theft at McDonalds

A woman who works at the Pawleys Island McDonalds is accused of stealing money from a female co-worker Oct. 21.

The alleged suspect was attempting to leave when deputies arrived.

The manager said he had been told the reported victim was missing about $1,200 from her pocketbook that had been left in the break room.

The security camera video shows the suspect rummaging through pocketbooks in the break room. She was also seen placing something in her shirt while standing next to the victim’s purse.

Although she denied any wrongdoing several times, the woman finally confessed the cash was in the trunk of her car.

The victim decided she would not press charges since her money was returned.
