A 25 year old woman says she was sexually assaulted and a 48 year old man was arrested after an incident at  a swimming pool at Litchfield Oaks July 13.

The woman said as she was swimming she was approached by the man who lives in the community.

She said he at first started talking about his van which he described as a “child snatching van.”

The woman said the man even said he had some candy he could give her which she said “was creepy.”

The man then told the woman she had a “smoking hot body” and moved closer and began fondling her.

The woman said she jumped out of the pool and ran to her apartment, locking the door behind her.

She then drove to her boyfriend and had him call the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies found the suspect at his apartment and he was arrested.

He said he joked about his van being a child snatcher because it only has windows on the back and passenger’s side.

High speed chase

It took a while, but deputies were able to apprehend a 19 year old Choppee Road man who led them on a two county high speed chase Saturday night.

The ordeal began near the intersection of Squirrel Run and Frank Cribb Roads when the blue Stratus was clocked at about 100 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone.

The driver turned onto Frank Cribb Road with a deputy giving chase.

After turning onto Choppee Road heading towards Hemingway, the chase reached a speed of 105 mph.

The driver made a turn after entering Williamsburg County and then started back towards Georgetown County.

The chase continued  on several roads in the Pleasant Hill area until the car being chased ran out of gas on Frank Cribb Road.

The driver then jumped out and started running with the officer close behind. They ran through a bean field and the chase ended when the suspect fell in a ditch.

After a brief  struggle, the deputies got handcuffs on the man.

He said he fled because he does not have a driver’s license.

The man also said he had been attacked prior to the chase and the other man broke his ribs.

He was taken to the hospital to be checked out and was then taken to jail.

An open can of beer was found in the man’s vehicle.

Marijuana possession

While en route to a report of a fight in progress on Grape Lane in Andrews July 13, deputies saw four teenagers next to the roadway. One of them was covered in blood.

The officers stopped and patted the four down, checking for weapons.

A bulge was felt in the pocket of a 16 year old.

When the officer asked what was in his pocket, the teen admitted it was marijuana.

A bag containing 7.2 grams of the drug was retrieved from his pocket and he was charged.

He was released to the custody of his mother.

The deputies then found out there had not been an actual fight but some men were trying to get a 19 year old Jamestown man who was “acting crazy” to calm down.

Deputies found the man at a campsite and when he saw them he ran in the river. A few minutes later he was taken into custody and was transported to the hospital to be treated for lacerations.

While on the way to the hospital and inside the emergency room, the man continuously yelled profanity and threats at the officers and hospital staff. This continued for quite some time with the deputy threatening to Taser the man and a nurse saying he could inject the man with a drug that would calm him down.

The man finally calmed down before either action had to be taken.

He was charged with disorderly conduct and was taken to jail.

Stun gun attack

A 20 year old man said he was attacked with a stun gun by some of his relatives while at 3 Door Disco on Micah Road July 14.

He said a 23 year old man is the one who used the weapon on him. He said that man also punched him in the eye.

A 26 year old man kicked him while he was on the ground.

Officers saw the man had a swollen eye but could find no markings on his rib area which is where he said he was zapped with the stun gun.

The man said he was attacked because of an incident that took place during bike week in which he fought with the 23 year old man.

That man said it was the alleged victim who intimidated him with the stun gun.

Thief leaves a message

A woman from Newman Loop in Pawleys Island said someone forced open her shed door July 14 and some tools are missing.

The words “oops gotchya” were painted on the back wall of the shed.

The woman said she believes a 50 year old man she has been in a dispute with may be responsible.

Go cart confiscated

A deputy was in the area of Prince and Cleland Streets July 14 when he saw a young man on a go cart.

When the rider saw the officer, he jumped off the golf cart and ran through yards and jumped over fences.

“Before I could get out of my patrol car, the suspect was gone out of sight,” the officer wrote in his report.

The go cart was taken to the Sheriff’s Office.

The preceding reports, compiled by Scott Harper, were collected  from local law enforcement offices.
