Deputies were rushed to a home on Waverly Road in Pawleys Island because of a man beating his ex-wife.

When the officers arrived, they saw the 51-year-old woman hiding behind a wall crying. She had her hands covering her face.

Her ex-husband came walking out from another area of the house.

The woman said while she was in the shower, he ex went through her cell phone and saw some text messages she had sent and received from another man.

When she got out of the shower, the suspect started hitting her in the face.

The woman’s brother, who lives in the same house, confirmed the story.

The suspect was arrested for criminal domestic violence and was transported to jail.

Former friend problems

A 22-year-old Andrews woman said she and her husband have been having problems with a former family friend.

She said they have been trying to cut ties with the man.

The woman said she has changed her phone number twice because the man keeps making harassing calls.

On Jan. 13, the man called the woman’s husband making sexual remarks about their relationship.

She was advised to see a magistrate.

Stolen cash

A 43-year-old Murrells Inlet Road woman said she was staying the night at a friend’s house on Wagon Wheel Road when $400 was taken from her purse.

The woman said she believes a man who was also staying at the house took the money while she was asleep.

Theft from WHS

An Ipod and cell phone were reported stolen from a 16-year-old Waccamaw High School student Jan. 12.

The student said he left the items in an unsecured locker in the boy’s locker room.

“There are approximately 800 students at Waccamaw High and there is no way to determine who may have committed this crime,” the report states.

The student was told “very little can be done in solving this case,” the report concludes.

Stolen boat motor

A man from Kirkwood Drive in Georgetown reported his boat motor was stolen Jan. 11.
