The following reports were collected  from local law enforcement offices:

A series of thefts have been reported at area  schools recently.

On Dec. 18, an Andrews High senior said his cell phone – valued at $400 — was stolen after he left it on a desk. When he remembered the phone, he went back to retrieve  it but it was gone.

A cell phone worth $200 was also reported  stolen at Carvers Bay High. A teacher said the phone was taken from her desk.

At the same school, another cell phone was reported stolen by a student Dec. 17.

Also at Carvers Bay High, a 19-year-old female said her pocketbook was stolen from the campus.

She said she discovered the theft after dance class. She is missing $30 in cash, her wallet, glasses and a calculator.

Flying rocks

A Murrells Inlet man was driving on Wachesaw Road at about 11:45 a.m. Dec. 19 when a rock flew threw his driver’s side window.

Several people reported seeing three young boys with slingshots in the area.

One of the witnesses brought the boys back to the scene with their mother.

They said they were shooting at trees and missed.

The victim said he was able to work out the situation with the mother of the three, so he decided he would not press charges.

WHS fight

The principal of Waccamaw High reported a fight between two 15-year-old male students Dec. 17.

The principal said he saw one of the teens pull the other back by grabbing his back pack.

He then “cold cocked” the student on the right side of his head.

The video surveillance footage corroborated the principal’s account.

The instigating student was suspended for three days.

Stolen soap and beer

A manager at Gullie’s convenience store in Pawleys Island said a former employee stole a bar of Zest soap and an 18-pack of Bud Light from the store Dec. 8.

He did not report he theft for 10 days because he did not know it happened until he was reviewing the security camera tape.

Another person is seen distracting the clerk on duty while the theft took place.

Oar attack

A 37-year-old Georgetown man said he was  drinking at a house on Chavis Landing Road Dec. 16 when he was assaulted by a 29-year-old woman.

He said an argument broke out and the woman said she would kill him.

The man said the woman then picked up a boat paddle and struck him on the head.

The victim said a 24-year-old man who was there then grabbed a stick and started beating him on the head. He said he was struck repeatedly but is unsure how many times.

The victim said “the next thing he remembers was waking up in the presence of Sheriff’s Office deputies,” the report states.

The officers did observe bruising and several lacerations on the man.

The investigation continues.
