Police blotter: Medical records recovered

The following reports were collected  from local law enforcement offices:

Medical records found

While going through a pile of items that have been turned in by customers, an employee of the Pawleys Island convenience store found a man’s medical records.

The records belong to a Socastee man who drove to the station to retrieve the paperwork.

He said he was at a doctor’s office in that area Oct. 19 but he did he did not leave the office with any paperwork. He said he planned to contact the doctor to find out how the folder with his medical records ended up at the store.

Stolen trailer

 A man from Wedgefield Road told deputies someone stole a utility trailer from his yard Oct. 23

He said the trailer, worth about $2,000, was parked on the grass next to his driveway when it was taken.

Diabetic arrested

A Myrtle Beach man who was hired to clean the Murrells Inlet CVS was caught stealing a blood sugar test kit from the store Oct. 23.

Employees saw the man take the items and followed him as he walked out a back door. They detained him until deputies arrived.

The 48-year-old man said he took the kit because of his medical condition and he could not afford one.

The man was taken to jail.

Dirty words in the dirt

A Georgetown woman called police Oct. 22 after finding profane words written in the dust and dirt on the windshield of her car.

She believes a 21-year-old woman who went to jail on an unrelated charge may be to blame but admits she has no proof.

Fake cash

An employee of the Murrells Inlet Chick-Fil-A noticed something strange about a $20 bill she was given by a customer at the drive-through Oct. 19.

The owner tested the bill and it determined it to be counterfeit.

Deputies were given information from the suspect’s license tag.

So far, no arrest has been made.

Burglaries and breakins

• 500 block of Woodlawn Ave., Oct. 23

Taken: Gold necklace, prescription drugs

Note: The owner said he feels the thief is someone he knows.

• WaccaWache Marina, Oct. 24

Taken: A revolver, 1,000 silver dollars

Note: The burglary occurred on a boat

• 700 block of Fogel Street, Georgetown, Oct. 18

Taken: 90 Hydrocodone pills, 52-inch TV, X-Box game system

• 400 block of Grate Street, Pawleys Island, Oct. 12

Taken: cell phone valued at $400

• 400 block o Sportsman Drive, Pawleys Island

Taken: Computer worth $800

Note: Victim believes his ex-girlfriend is responsible. She admitted being in the house and claims she left the computer outside.

• 600 block of Brace Drive, Pawleys Island, Oct. 19

Taken: a revolver

• 5100 block of Exodus Drive, Plantersville, Oct. 18

Taken: handbags, watches and several pairs of shoes.

• Caledonia Snack Bar, Pawleys Island, Oct. 17

Taken: A cash register containing an undisclosed amount of cash

• 300 block of Palm Street, Georgetown, Oct. 21

Taken: Semiautomatic assault rifle, $70 in cash
