Deputies met with a Hopeland Lane man at the emergency room Tuesday morning.

He said he was at his Hagley home and was target shooting and had the pistol down by his side.

He said after he cocked the trigger he slipped on some wet grass causing him to pull the trigger.

The bullet entered near his right knee. He was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina for further treatment.

Stranded on the roof

When a deputy arrived at a Georgetown residence at about 11:30 a.m. Jan. 30, he was told by a man his wife was on the roof of their mobile home.

The deputy saw the woman on the roof and then asked how she got up there and why she did not come down.

She said her husband threw her pocketbook on the roof and when she went up to retrieve it, he moved the ladder.

The woman said she and her husband had been arguing and he locked her out of the house so she threw a chair through the front window so she could get inside.

The man was reportedly upset because of the people his wife was hanging out with.

The case was turned over to investigators.

Death threat

A 27-year-old woman said her husband threatened to kill her while at their Choppee area home.

The woman said she told her husband she did not want him there because he has been cheating on her.

The man reportedly said he would kill her if she left him. He also said he would kill any cops who showed up at their house.

The woman left the house but her husband repeatedly called her cell phone making threats.

The man was arrested for domestic violence.

Arson threat

Deputies are still investigating an alleged arson threat made by a 39-year-old man.

A Folly Grove Road woman said she and her estranged husband threatened to burn down the home she is staying in.

She said he went so far as to pour gasoline around the house but he did not light it.

The man admitted to a deputy he poured the gas but said he did it “to prove a point.”

During questioning, the woman said her husband never “directly” threatened her, only said he would burn the house.

The case was turned over to a magistrate to determine if charges are warranted.

Stolen Bud

A cashier at Tootsie’s convenience store on North Fraser Street said two females walked in the store Jan. 30 and one began asking about lottery tickets.

While they were talking, the other woman was browsing the store. When the lottery tickets were sold, the browsing woman walked out the door with a case of Bud Light.

The cashier followed the women outside and told them they did not pay, the women drove away.

The clerk said one of the women shops at the store frequently but did not know her name.

Shed window shot

A man from Nemiah Ave. reported the back window of his shed was shot out Jan. 28.

The man said he did not hear the gunfire but it was heard by a neighbor.

He said he did not see anyone in the area and has no idea who would have done such a thing.

The preceding reports, compiled by Scott Harper, were collected  from local law enforcement offices.
