A Browns Ferry area man who did not like a Census worker being on his property pulled his truck behind the man’s car so he could not leave.
Deputies were called to the house July 4 and the homeowner said the Census worker was trespassing.
The deputy explained the man was not a trespasser but the homeowner disagreed.
The deputy told the man to move his truck so the worker could leave.
The man said the worker could drive around the house to get out.
The officer said he did not want that to happen because he did not want the man’s lawn damaged.
The homeowner’s wife walked out and was told what was going on and she told her husband to move his truck, which he did.
The worker then left the man’s property.
Man gives conflicting
robbery details
A 46 year old North Congdon Street man said he walked out of his house at about 11:15 p.m. July first and was “surrounded” by three men with bandanas covering their faces.
He later said it was hats covering their faces then he said their faces were covered with their shirts. In the end he said it was bandanas.
He said the men called him by name and asked him for money.
The man said when he refused to give them money, they shocked him with a Taser and punched him.
It was then the men stole his cell phone and wallet, he said.
He said he had to crawl to his house to call for help.
However, he did not have any dirt on his clothing, police noted in the report.
He also said the men went in his house and stole cigarettes and other items but later said none of them went inside the house.
When asked to give an approximate age of the robbers, the man said 25-30 but later changed his answer to 14-18.
With little to go on, police made no arrests.

An employee of Santee Electric Cooperative said someone stole copper ground wire from 124 electric poles on Dave McKenzie Road, Walker Road, Columbus Road, Wild Horse Road and Santee River Road.

The employee was given the name of a possible suspect who had reportedly bragged to a friend he was making about $100 a day selling ground copper wire.
The investigation continues.

The general manager of Caledonia Two said someone went on the roof of the office building and took copper from inside ten air conditioning units.

The copper was worth about $600 but damage to the units is estimated at about $15,000.
Stolen beer
An employee of the Murrells Inlet CVS said a man who appeared to be in his mid 20s walked in July 4 and asked for some tape so he could repair his torn money.
The man then walked to a cooler and grabbed three 12 packs of beer and ran out the door. The worker was able to write down the man’s license plate number as he drove away.
666 vandalism
A woman from Reef Run Road in Pawleys Island said she walked out of her home July 4 and saw someone had used a red marker and wrote the numbers 666 on the side of her garage.

The preceding reports, compiled by Scott Harper, were collected from local law enforcement offices.
