For the second time in a month, a theft was reported from the Pawleys Island Salvation Army.

On July 12, a worker said someone took a three piece dresser set from the front porch area.

The worker said she found a bottle of beer and two Tupperware containers on the porch. Those items were placed into evidence.

On June 27, two women were arrested for allegedly stealing bags of items from the same location.

Theft from mailbox

A man who lives on Talon Circle in Murrells Inlet said he placed two checks to pay bills in his mailbox July 5. Two days later, while checking his bank account, he saw both checks had been cashed at Wal Mart in Surfside Beach.

One had been altered and cashed for $259, the other for $210.

Theft from steel mill

Sometime earlier this month someone entered a fence at ArcelorMittal-Georgetown and stole several partial spools of copper wire.

A witness reported seeing a man loading copper wire into a trash can.

A few minutes later, police found that man and he was interviewed. As a result of the interview, the 34 year old man was arrested and charged with the theft.

Stolen fishing gear

A North Carolina man who has a boat docked at Georgetown Landing Marina said he returned to the vessel July 7 and discovered his fishing rods were gone.

A surveillance video shows a man taking the rods from the boat.

The value of the rods is about $750.

Fake cash

A 70 year old Pawleys Island man used a $100 bill to pay for a purchase at the Walgreens store at the North Causeway July 12.

The cashier used a counterfeit-detecting pen on the bill and discovered it was fake.
