An official with the county building and planning department met with police May 29 because several county vehicles parked next to the Broad Street office have been tampered with or broken into in recent years.
The complainant said he believes a man who lives near the office is responsible.
The official said his wife was passing by and saw the suspected man next to one of the trucks with something in his hand.
The man was reportedly “looking in the windows and peering in the bed” of one of the county trucks.
Police spoke to the accused man who admitted being next to the truck.
He said he was taking pictures of political signs in the bed of the truck because he was “building a case against them to take to the newspapers.”
The man denied tampering with the vehicles and was advised to stay off the property unless he has official business.
Malnourished dogs
A deputy who stopped by a home on Indian Hut Road to serve a warrant may have saved the lives of some dogs.
The deputy reported seeing three dogs running loose as well as a hound that was tied to a tree with no shelter.
Another dog, a brown boxer, was malnourished with its ribs showing.
Two other dogs were in the same condition.
There was no water for the dogs, the report states.
Animal control was called to pick up the dogs.
Upset urinator
An 18 year old Andrews man was arrested after allegedly urinating in the roadway on Meadow Street in Georgetown June 2.
A man who lives on that street called 911 and said the urinator was in the midst of a group of other young people when he committed the act.
The complainant told deputies when he confronted the man, the suspect started to yell and cuss at him.
When deputies found the suspect, he was apparently intoxicated so he was arrested for disorderly conduct and for underage consumption of alcohol.
Theft from dad
A man who lives on Old Plantation Drive in Pawleys Island says his 15 year old daughter took $150 from him to buy drugs.
He said he knows about the theft because he has printouts of some online chats where she admits taking the cash.
The man said the teen has been taking the money for months.
The teen told the officer the computer chats were with a 16 year old she knows who can get her the drugs she wants.
The father was advised to seek help in family court.
Robbed at home
A man from Palm Alley said he was in his yard doing laundry June 5 when a man wearing a ski mask walked up and said “gimme what you got.”
The 61 year old man said the suspect forced his hands behind his back and then took his wallet which contained $1,300.
The suspect then ran towards Merriman Road.
Police questioned the man about why he waited 30 minutes to report the incident.
They also say some details given by the man changed as he was being questioned.
The area was searched but the suspect was not found.
The preceding reports, compiled by Scott Harper, were collected from local law enforcement offices.
