Police Blotter: Woman claims she was attacked on Highway 17
A 28-year-old woman called 911 at about 11:40 p.m. July 25 to report she had been assaulted by an unknown man.
The woman said she was walking from a club and was followed by her attacker “for some time before the attack,” the report states.
The woman said when she reached a dark area on Ocean Highway near the South Causeway, the man grabbed her by the shirt and threw her on the ground.
She said the man started ripping off her clothes and she started screaming for help. The man began punching her on the head and told her no one would help her.
The woman said she continued to scream so the man got up and ran away.
She then walked to the Hot Spot and called for help.
The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment. The suspect was not found.
A 48-year-old Andrews woman says she was threatened with a gun by a former lover.
She said the 32-year-old woman pulled into her driveway and pointed a gun at her.
The victim said she told the woman to stop and asked what she was doing with the gun.
“The suspect told her she had better be careful and watch her back as she walks because she could drop her at any time,” the report states.
The victim told police the suspect is mad because they are no longer romantically involved.
She said she did want to press charges.
Gun and cash stolen
A man from Russ Lane said he returned home July 23 and found his side door was “busted open.”
He said a shotgun and $350 in cash was taken.
Recovered fishing equipment
More than $550 worth of fishing gear that was stolen from Perry’s Bait and Tackle in Murrells Inlet earlier this year has been recovered.
A woman said she found the equipment in her shed when she was cleaning it out. She believes a 26-year-old man she knows stole the items and hid them in the shed. She said the man used to live at that location.
A man from the 100 block of Beaver Pond Loop in Pawleys Island says his 1991 Pontiac Firebird was stolen from his yard July 23.
The man said he believes the thief used a screw driver to get inside the vehicle.
The area was searched but the car was not found.
Hair loss abuse
Deputies arrested a 32-year-old Pawleys Island man who allegedly pulled out a wad of his girlfriend’s hair while in a rage July 19.
The incident happened at a home on Christopher Circle. The woman was crying when deputies arrived. She said her boyfriend arrived home drunk and got mad and grabbed her by the hair, picked her up and slammed her on the ground.
The woman said the argument that led to the violence started because her boyfriend had been at his ex-wife’s home for about three hours.
The man was charged with criminal domestic violence.
Missing wine cash
A deputy met with a woman at Coastal Wine Boutique in Pawleys Island July 23 who said $100 was missing from the register.
The woman said the money was in the register when she closed the previous evening.
She said several people have keys to the business and the code to the alarm.
There are no named suspects.
money missing from checking account
When a 19-year-old Pawleys Island woman discovered her bank account was overdrawn July 25, she called the bank to find out why her money vanished.
She was told about several transactions she did not make.
The woman said she lost her checkbook earlier this year and the transactions were made using those checks.
Nearly $1,500 was written out of the account.
