A 5-year-old girl may have been sexually assaulted by her father, according to the child’s mother who met with deputies Dec. 15.
The woman said her daughter has been telling her for months that her father — a 29-year-old Sampit-area man — plays with her in bed.
When an officer asked the girl how her father plays with her, she responded by saying “I don’t know,” the report states.
Her mother says the girl told her she has been touched in her private area.
The alleged incidents happened while the girl was staying with her father at his home.
Man threatened by ex
A 22-year-old Andrews-area man talked to a deputy Dec. 14 because he has been harassed by his ex-wife who lives somewhere in Georgetown County but the man was unsure exactly where she lives.
He said his ex and her new boyfriend have been posting messages on Facebook about him.
Some of the messages are threatening in nature.
The man said he called the suspect and asked her to delete the messages but she refused.
She then allegedly said if her ex-husband showed up at church, she would cut his throat.
The case was expected to be sent to a magistrate for possible prosecution.
Several vehicle break-ins
The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate several theft from vehicle reports that occurred in the Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet areas.
Three of the five reports taken Dec. 16 were from residents on Blue Stem Drive in Pawleys Island.
A 40-year-old man said several compartments in his vehicle were rummaged through but it does not appear anything was taken.
A 24-year-old man wasn’t as fortunate. Taken from his vehicle was a GPS unit, a digital camera, his debit card and a credit card.
He said someone tried to use the credit card but it was declined.
A 47-year-old man said two pistols and two shotguns were taken from his vehicle.
One break-in was reported on Pinehurst Lane in Pawleys Island.
A 61-year-old woman said nothing was taken when her vehicle was entered.
On Macklen Lane in Murrells Inlet, a 21-year-old man said a 19-year-old man broke into his vehicle.
In this case, both the victim and a friend saw the suspect and chased him down and held him in the garage until deputies arrived.
The suspect said it was actually some of his friends who stole a wallet from a vehicle earlier in the evening.
He said he was returning the wallet to the vehicle when he was spotted.
Theft from Food Lion customer
A 68-year-old man said his checkbook and $600 in cash was stolen while he was at the Murrells Inlet Food Lion Dec. 16.
The man said he left his belongings in his buggy next to an entrance to the store while he walked over to assist an elderly female.
Witnesses said they saw two females take the checkbook and cash from the buggy.
The women were recorded on the store’s security camera but have not been identified.
Information is subject to change as the investigation proceeds. Individuals arrested and/or charged have not been convicted.— Compiled by Scott Harper
