A Georgetown Memorial Hospital worker was assaulted by a 39-year-old Exodus Drive man who was in police custody Dec. 3.
A deputy working security saw the suspect attempting to leave the hospital. Knowing the man was in the custody of the Highway Patrol, the deputy detained the man.
The nurse who was assaulted said he was trying to check the man’s blood pressure when he removed the cuff and attempted to walk out.
The man reportedly bolted for the door and collided with the male nurse causing them both to fall to the floor.
The suspect was then taken to jail.
Stolen clothing
Police met with a 23-year-old woman and her brother at the Coin Laundry in Maryville Dec. 3 because someone stole their clothing from a dryer.
The woman said once they put the clothes in the dryer, they left for about 30 minutes. The theft was discovered when they returned.
No one reported seeing the clothes being taken. The value of the laundry is estimated at $450.
West End break-in
A man from the 1500 block of Emanuel Street reported his home was burglarized Nov. 28.
He reported the incident Dec. 3.
The man said while he and his roommates were at work, someone broke in and took several items including a stereo, CD player, movies and numerous CDs.
All the items were taken from the living room area.
A gold cross necklace was taken from an upstairs bedroom.
The man said he was not going to report the burglary until he saw what he thinks is his stereo at a local store.
Once it was checked out it was determined the stereo was not the one taken from the victim.
Disorderly at Food Lion
Police were rushed to the Maryville Food Lion Dec. 3 because a 50-year-old man was cursing and threatening customers in the parking lot.
The man was, according to police, “extremely intoxicated” and his zipper on his pants was down.
He was holding an open bottle of liquor.
After police arrived the man continued his tirade.
The man was arrested and was warned by store management not to ever return to the property.
Police told the manager it is highly unlikely the man will remember those instructions because of his intoxicated condition.
He got away
A Georgetown Piggly Wiggly worker called police to the store Nov. 29 because of an attempted shoplifter who got away.
The worker said the suspect tried to walk out without paying for about $250 worth of groceries.
When the man was spotted trying to flee with the cart full of items, a worker yelled for him to stop. He left the buggy behind and fled the scene.
He jumped in the passenger seat of a vehicle and the female driver sped away.
So far, no arrests have been made.
