A burglary at Capt. Poo’s Bar and Grill in the 4800 block of Highway 17 Business in Murrells Inlet is under investigation.
The break-in took place Dec. 5 and was discovered when an employee arrived at work.
Deputies watched footage from a security camera and saw a man walk onto the back part of the business at about 1:40 a.m. He pried open an outdoor cabinet and removed seven bottles of liquor.
Less than two hours later, the same man returned and picked up a chair and threw it through the glass door of the business. Once inside he removed a safe which continued a substantial amount of cash. He is seen carrying the safe out through the kitchen area.
Alleged toddler sexual assault
An investigation is taking place into allegations a 29-year-old Plantersville man sexually assaulted a 3-year-old girl.
According to the child’s aunt, the alleged victim told her the man had assaulted her.
The child was taken to the hospital to be tested.
Fake cash at the DC
After being booked at the Georgetown County Detention Center Dec. 7, a 52 year old Georgetown man turned over the belongings he had in his possession which included $15.95 in cash.
A jail worker tested the money and discovered a $5 bill he had given them was counterfeit.
The report said it was “plain to the naked eye” the bill was a fake.
It was placed into evidence.
Fake cash at KFC
A drive-through worker at the Pawleys Island KFC said two women in a truck attempted to pay for their order by handing her two $20 bills that “felt funny” Dec. 7.
The worker said they “got into a dispute” about the currency and the manager handed the bills back to the women who then fled the scene.
Decoration theft
An employee of Callas Florist on Highway 17 Bypass in Murrells Inlet said someone took a Christmas swag from a post next to the business Dec. 6
The value of the decoration — made up of artificial flowers, greenery and ornaments — is $350.
Shot in the hand
A 20-year-old Andrews man accidentally shot himself in the hand Dec. 9.
The man was reloading his rifle when it discharged while near Big Dam Swamp Road.
He ran home and his father drove him to the Andrews EMS station. He was then transported to the hospital.
Reported child abuse
A 14-year-old Georgetown girl told her school’s guidance counselor, and then police, her mom’s boyfriend pushed her into a stove.
She said he was mad because she got her food before him at dinner.
The man allegedly started yelling at the teen who yelled back. When he grabbed her wrist, she bit him in an attempt to get him to let go. In retaliation, he pushed her into the stove and said “now bite me again.”
The teen’s mom had to separate the two.
The matter is still being investigated.
