Police Blotter: Jewels found in man's underwear
A 24-year-old Pawleys Island man was arrested after stolen jewelry was found stashed in his underwear Dec. 16.
A woman from the 800 block of Planters Trace Loop was informed by a neighbor who keeps watch over her second home that someone had broken in and ransacked a bedroom.
She met deputies at the home and said a front window had been pried open.
Deputies learned the suspect may have stopped at Arby's restaurant in Murrells Inlet, so they responded to that location and spoke with a manager.
He said a man walked in and then went straight to the bathroom.
The manager said he got suspicious because the man was in the bathroom for so long that he decided to look through the trash can in the bathroom when the suspect walked out. He said he thought the man had been doing drugs.
The manager found a makeup bag in the trash can, so he called 911.
The burglary victim identified the bag as being hers.
The man was arrested and during the patdown they found jewelry inside his underwear.
He was taken to jail.
Christmas trees stolen
A Conway man who has been selling Christmas trees at a lot in the 11100 block of Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island reported 14 trees were stolen from his stand Dec. 10.
Although there are no suspects, the victim said the night the trees were taken a man did stop by asking about them but he was unable to give deputies a description of the man.
The man said his loss is about $840.
Thief must have been hungry
More than $120 worth of meat was stolen from a freezer in a garage at a home on Lakewood Drive in Kensington. The homeowner said when he walked out of his house Dec. 16, he saw the freezer door was open.
He said three packs of baby back ribs and several steaks were taken.
Beer was taken from a refrigerator that is also in the garage.
An air compressor and a sander were also stolen.
Body fluids tossed on jail guard
A Georgetown County Detention Center officer said he went to assist another guard who was having problems with an 18-year-old inmate who was not letting her close the food pass door to his cell.
When the male officer got to the cell, the inmate tossed a liquid on him that landed on his neck and on the chest area of his uniform.
The officer said he believes the liquid was urine because it was yellow in color and the inmate only had water to drink with his meal.
The report states the officer sprayed the inmate’s cell with pepper spray after the liquid was tossed.
Theft at PH ball field
Someone used a hacksaw to cut a hinge to a utility trailer parked at the new ballfield being built on Schoolhouse Drive in Pleasant Hill.
