Georgetown police were sent to a South Fraser Street business at about 1:30 a.m. Jan. 7 because of a report of a 38-year-old-woman who was intoxicated and passed out.

EMS arrived first and when officers arrived the woman was in the parking lot crying.

The woman was escorted to the ambulance and she allegedly started screaming at the medical workers.

An officer tried to explain that everyone was trying to help her but she continued to shout obscenities at EMS and police.

The woman was arrested. Once at the jail she fell on the floor and started to shake.

Because she refused to give her name the woman was booked in the jail as Jane Doe and was then transported to the hospital.

She told police she had been under a lot of stress and she had too much to drink with her medication.

She was checked out by doctors and was taken back to jail where she provided her real name.

She was charged with disorderly conduct.

Arrested for pot possession

Police received word of a suspicious vehicle parked in the 1700 block of State Street Jan. 6.

When they arrived they saw two men standing by a car behind the house. The officers noticed a strong smell of marijuana.

A 19-year-old man was asked if he and his  friend had been smoking pot. He said they had smoked earlier in the day but were not smoking at that time.

During a pat down of the man, one of the officers found a small bag of marijuana in one pocket and more of the drug in another pocket.

The other suspect, a juvenile, had marijuana in his possession as well. Both were arrested.

The 19-year-old was taken to jail while the juvenile was transported to the police station and was later released to his mother.

Stolen store racks recovered

Several shipping racks — valued at $600 — were reported stolen from the Maryville Dollar General Jan. 6.

A manager said a man in a truck grabbed the racks, placed them in the truck and drove away.

The manager followed the truck and a few minutes later notified police the thief was at Coastal Recycling on West Street where he was trying to sell the racks.

Workers at the recycling business told police that was the same man who had been bringing in metal shopping racks and shopping carts to sell.

The Dollar General manager positively identified the racks.

A check the man had received for the racks from the recycler was recovered in his truck and was placed into evidence.

The man was charged with possession of stolen property.

Information  is subject to change as the investigation proceeds.

Individuals arrested and/or charged have not been convicted.
