Georgetown Pizza Hut rebuilding about to begin
The construction of the new Pizza Hut in Georgetown is expected to begin soon now that the owner of the franchise has crossed the legal hurdles that were required.
The popular Church Street restaurant was destroyed by fire in December.
The plans for the new building were approved by the City Planning Commission earlier this year.
Last week, the plans were submitted to the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals, according to City Planner Rick Martin.
“Since they took the walls down, they wanted to take it to the BZA so they can rebuild on the same footprint,” Martin said.
He said building permits are expected to be issued this week which clears the way for the construction to begin.
No timetable was given for when the work may be complete.
