Cat-Killing Dogs Caught
The Georgetown Police Department says the cat-killing dogs that have been terrorizing the city are no longer on the streets.
Georgetown Police Capt. Nelson Brown says one of the mixed-breed dogs was caught in a trap and the other had to be shot.
As the Georgetown Times reported earlier this year, the two wild dogs were believed to be responsible for killing numerous cats in Willowbank, the Historic District and other areas of the city.
Traps were set up to catch the dogs but were unsuccessful until this week.
Brown said police know they have the right dogs because they chased the animals for weeks. They even have had citizens call and report sightings of the dogs.
Brown said it's regrettable one of the dogs had to be shot but tranquilizer darts did not work.
He said both dogs were taken to the Saint Francis Humane Society.
