“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”

St. John 17:17

Hopefully you have had a great week and you’re enjoying the crisp weather with all of its sunshine.  If your week was filled with various adversities, then I pray that God’s Spirit will come upon you and help you to endure and conquer, and that the coming days will be brighter ones, and your peace and joy will be restored.

Mt. Lebanon AME

Revival was held at Mt. Lebanon AME Church Wednesday through Friday nights, Jan. 25th through 27th at 7 nightly.

The theme for the revival was, “A New Year and New Blessings From The Lord” according to Isaiah 65:23-24.  The speaker for Monday, January 25th was Rev. Herman Ford, Jr., the pastor of Trinity AME Church; Tuesday’s speaker was Rev. Eugene Collins, pastor of St. Paul AME Plantersville, and Wednesday’s speaker was Rev. Aundry Evans, pastor of Thomas Chapel AME Church.

God has answered by fire, send again the wind and the fire of your Spirit.

Pour out your power on your people.

And the people said, “Lord, let there be a revival and let it begin with me!”

Rev. Dr. Joseph Jones is the pastor of Mt. Lebanon.

Singleton Chapel AME

I had an opportunity to attend and participate in a “Fruit of the Spirit” program at Singleton Chapel AME Church on Sunday, Jan. 24th  beginning at 4 p.m. with Mrs. Sandra Johnson serving as mistress of ceremony.

Others participating in the opening worship services were Sisters Louise Jenkins, Eliza Cooper, and Janie Cooper.  The Fruit of the Spirit topics were listed in the following order:  Spirit of Love, yours truly;  Spirit of Joy, Rev. Jane Wineglass; Spirit of Peace, Sister Mary Grant; Spirit of Longsuffering, Sister Evie Coakley; Spirit of Gentleness, Brother Albert Singleton; Spirit of Faith, Sister Brenda Whitis; Spirit of Goodness, First Lady, Sister Brenda Burgess; Spirit of Meekness, Brother Curtis Solomon; Spirit of Temperance, Sister Mary Alston.

A poem was read by member, Sister Barbara Brown, and a Gullah performance was given by author and educator, Sister Janie Green.

It was a wonderful evening of fellowship as God’s presence was felt in the midst of His church.

Closing remarks were made by the president of the Ushers, Mrs. Julia Anderson.

Other ministers, Reverends Cleveland Vanderhorst, Franklin Rutledge, and Jerome Whitis were recognized by the pastor of Singleton Chapel, Rev. Michael Burgess.

Mrs. Florene Linnen

Mrs. Florene Linnen is truly a leader in the community and wherever she goes.

Her heart’s desire is to educate as many people as she can about the dangers of Diabetes.

She has been recognized in many notable places and won numerous awards for her service and dedication.

She’s doing it again this time in the form of a dinner theater.  The Georgetown County Diabetes Core Group will present a dinner theater with a play by yours truly, entitled Eat Right, Do Right, Live Right On, or Be, “Tired of Wearing Black”.

The play begins on a humorous note between couples whose spouses all have Diabetes, but are not doing the necessary things to control the disease, and  ends on a serious note as consequences are revealed.

Mrs. Linnen stars as herself in the play.  There will be open auditions for the play on Saturday, Feb. 6th at 2 p.m. at the old Choppee High School.  We are in need of  six ladies and five men.

Mrs. Linnen, along with Joyce Grant Linnen and her committee also have other entertainment planned for the evening along  with a delicious dinner.

So keep this in mind, although she will be reminding you again for the March 13th date.

Support your very own, Georgetown Diabetes Core Group  with the dinner theater donation of $15.

For more information, you may contact Mrs. Florene Linnen or Carretha Vereen at 843-545-8723, extension 114.  I must say it is a pleasure working along with Mrs. Florene Linnen for this most worthy cause.

Alice Smith and Jane Merchant

For all you Alice  Smith and Jane Merchant  fans, I must tell you that both of these beautiful ladies are coming along quite well.

Mrs. Alice was snowed in in Tennesee when we had that real cold snap, but her mind was still on being back in Georgetown, which she plans to do sometimes in March.

She is an avid reader of the Georgetown Times as she resides with her daughter, Cathy and her family.

Mrs. Merchant’s hair has turned a beautiful, silvery white, and her smile is as gorgeous as ever.  It’s been rumored that Mrs. Merchant is 100 +,  and I do say, unbelievable and great blessings.

Keep them and all seniors in your prayers.

Prayer

Please remember to pray for the sick and shut in, the bereaved, those in nursing homes and hospitals, our men and women on the battlefield in Iraq, the people of Haiti, innocent people in war torn lands, those facing surgery of any kind,  those with various chronic diseases, our president and other leaders, and for each other.

Afternoon Blessings

Please  join me on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 on 1470 AM WLMC, for Afternoon Blessings.

I pray God’s continued blessings upon you and yours, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend and upcoming week.
