Peggy Bellamy
Peggy Bradley Bellamy, 64, of Myrtle Beach, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at her residence.
Services will be Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Sandy Grove Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Wilds Funeral Home, will follow in Community Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon prior to services at the church.
Mrs. Bellamy was born May 9, 1943, in Georgetown, a daughter of the late Charles Bradley Sr. and Thelma Robinson Bradley. She attended Georgetown County schools and was a retired reorganization specialist with Bankers Trust. She attended Sandy Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are five children, Terryal Tucker of Brooklyn, N.Y., Lamont Tucker Sr. of Queens, N.Y., Eugene Tucker Jr. and Vincent Tucker, both of Englewood, N.J., and Mark P. Tucker of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Charles Bradley Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Carlos Bradley of Chicago, Ill.; and an adopted sister, Ruthena Bradley Wineglass of Georgetown.
Betty Lee Brockington
Betty Lee Brockington, 72, of Andrews, died Saturday, April 26, 2008.
Services were Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Eddie Gamble Jr. officiating. Burial, directed by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home, followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Brockington was born Sept. 4, 1935, in Andrews, a daughter of the late Rev. Robert Lane Sr. and Queen Ethel Lane. She attended Georgetown County schools and was a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Deaconess Board, Usher Board and Senior Choir #2.
Surviving are two brothers, William Lane of Georgetown and the Rev. Robert Lane Jr. of Andrews; a niece (raised as a daughter), Gloria Dee Brown of Andrews; a sister, Mary Snipes of Andrews; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mable Brown
Mable Barnes Brown, 86, of Hartsville, died Thursday, April 24, 2008, in Florence.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Union Methodist Church in Georgetown. Visitation begins at noon Saturday and lasts until services begin at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Brown was born on May 1, 1921, in Rhems, a daughter of the late Robert Dudley Barnes and Carolyn Eliot Barnes. She attended the University of South Carolina, and she was a homemaker.
She was predeceased by a sister, Reba Cook, and two brothers, Malcolm Barnes and Liston Barnes.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years, James L. Brown of Hartsville; two sons, Robert Brown of Hartsville and Edward Brown (Deborah H.) of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Anne Brown (Beau Smith) of Atlanta; and two grandchildren, Dorian Brown and Julian Smith, both of Atlanta.

Mary Brown
Mary Miller Brown, 91, of Mt. Pleasant, widow of Carl Andrew Brown, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 4, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Carl Ritchie officiating. Burial, directed by Mayer Funeral Home, Georgetown Chapel, will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, May 3, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brown was born March 5, 1917, in Lafayette, Ind., a daughter of the late Clyde Lane Miller and Mary Neff Miller. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette and attended Purdue University. She lived in Georgetown until 2005, where she was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Surviving are a son, Carl M. Brown of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Cheryl Brown (Harry Anderson Page) of Dumfries, Va.; a sister, Dorothy Selby of Downers Grove, Ill.; a grandson, David P. Brown (Elise) of Charleston; a granddaughter, Mary Meghan Flynn (Patrick) of Dumfries; and two great-grandchildren.

Helen Christopher
Helen Owens Christopher, 76, of Myrtle Beach, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Services were Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach. Burial, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, followed in Ocean Woods Cemetery.
Mrs. Christopher was born in Marion, a daughter of the late D.F. and Helen Owens. She was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School and attended Columbia College. She was a homemaker and was a buyer for the Ladies Department at Coker's Department Store. She also was the bookkeeper for Dockside Restaurant in Murrells Inlet. Mrs. Christopher was a member of First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach for over 60 years.
She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Owens.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, James Heyward "Chris" Christopher; two daughters, Sharon C. Beckham (John) and Susan C. West (Danny), both of Myrtle Beach; five grandchildren, Stephanie M. Beckham, Stacey B. Cutler (Brian), Jonathan West and Daniel West, all of Myrtle Beach, and Natali Spritzer (Mark) of Middlebury, Vt.; a great-grandson, Ethan Spritzer of Middlebury; a brother, David Frank Owens Jr. (Dianne) of Litchfield Beach; and a sister, Lillian Roberta "Bobbie" Canaday of Myrtle Beach.

John Holmes
John "Jack" Francis Holmes, 80, of Pawleys Island, died Tuesday, April 27, 2008.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church with the Rev. Andrew Morgan officiating. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, will follow at 3 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols, S.C.
Mr. Holmes was born in Long Island, N.Y. As a youth, he was a member of Church of the Advent Episcopal Church in Westbury, N.Y., participating as an altar boy and choir member. In 1946, he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with a letter of commendation from President Harry S. Truman. Mr. Holmes began his educational career as a history and English instructor, and then later he became a high school guidance counselor for the State of New York. He married Winnie Lee Mincey in 1964. They moved to Georgetown in 1998.
He was predeceased by his wife.
Surviving are a niece, Myra Susan Mincey-Shutt, and a brother-in-law, James Edward Mincey.

Richard Ros
Richard "Dickie" O'Reilly Ros, 76, of Georgetown, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church with the Rev. Ronald Farrell officiating. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Ros was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Pascagoula, Miss., a son of the late Joseph Miguel Ros and the late Sarah Collins Ros. He was a member of St. Mary's Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was predeceased by a sister, Germaine Ros Isaac, and four brothers, Joseph M. Ros Jr., Thomas Ros, John V. Ros and James P. Ros.
Surviving are four siblings, Desbert R. Burns of Whiteville, N.C., Marianne R. McRae of Conroe, Texas, Rex E. Ros of Greensboro, N.C., and Rory Ros of Vicksburg, Miss.

James Vondrak
James Joseph Vondrak, 77, of Murrells Inlet, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008.
Memorial services will be Friday, May 2, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel with Celebrant Jason L. Benton and the Calabash Elk's Lodge officiating.
Mr. Vondrak was born April 5, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., a son of the late Quido and Martha Haas Vondrak. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired civil engineer. He also was an avid golfer. Mr. Vondrak was a member of the Gator's Club, the Calabash and Murrells Inlet Elk's Lodges and was a Little League baseball and basketball coach for his sons.
Surviving are his wife, Karen Mangini Vondrak of the home; a daughter, Alyce Bartolomeo (Frank) of Winter Park, Fla.; two sons, James Q. Vondrak of Murrells Inlet and Keir Francis Vondrak of Greenville; and three grandchildren, Mitchell, Allyson and Samantha.
